I'm putting on the power steering pump on the motor. Would a number 8 bolt from the local hardware store be the same as the ford bolts.

I assume you are talking about a grade 8 bolt? That will work fine.

Not exactly the same but it will do the job. Ford bolts are usually 10.9.
