The coolers are the largest we could find at 29,200 BTU a piece. He wanted filters in line but really I think they are pointless but they add volume. He also used a derale transmission pan that increased the capacity by 10quarts total volume with the 5 friction low stall pulling/towing converter is close to 30 quarts of fluid.
enough chit chat on with the bling.

To keep the heat under control we built a very low stall converter, the unti was rebuilt using his original ATS converter that cost him over $1700. To be honest the unit was a disgrace but after some help from me it has become the unit it should have been when he bought it
Pictures tell all but notice the ats pump had nothing more than an extra weld pass done on a stock 4r100 pump, at least they come furnace brazed. I replaced it with the much better 5r110w low stall pump and cut the hub out to install a flanged billet 4340 chromoly hardened sonnax impeller hub I also welded the unit on both side to spread the load and prevent any ballooning no matter what the power level he reaches, he had distorted the ATS unit or they put it together crooked. Final pump(impeller) runout was less than .002
The real disgrace to the ats unit is a toss up between the gas stator butchered up to prevent crashing when assembled crooked and used with the light duty roller clutch(sprag) assembly. I replaced it with nothing more than a stock stator using the heavy duty roller clutch, steel stator cap and the latest design OEM bearing for long life under high load.
The turbine ATS built was nothing more than a stock 4r100 turbine assembled very poorly, They tig welded a few spots on the non furnace brazed component then assembled it with no concern for proper alignment, to prevent crashing they then chopped the crap out of it. The owner hung it on his wall of shame next to the stator.
The frictions that ATS used were kevlar material which at one time was good but in this day and age kevlar has been replaced by high energy"black" material that will never glaze as the kevlar had.
Set of pics here are original to the ATS unit
Next post will contain upgraded proper components that really should have been in a converter of this magnitude after all he did pay $1700 for this converter plus returned a 5r110w core worth over $300 and paid shipping both directions at over $150. He did offer to send it in to ATS for warranty service as the roller clutch caused his failure and ATS denied the claim because to honor their warranty you must send the unit to them once per year at a cost of about $400 each time
I am sure I am forgetting some of the details but for anyone interest please ask.

Components I built before final assembly. I made a ton of changes and now doubt this converter will ever have troubles again. I can honestly say it is what it should have been now. The owner is trying to at least get his core back from ats because that is the part that cost him the most.
