Project: Tangelo 5oh Part 2

Well most of you know I picked up Matt Johnsons 89 GT project he and many others had put alot of time into. They did a hell of a job and and time came for him to part with it and I was fortunate enough to buy it.

Im not real sure on my plans with it as of right now since I have the coupe almost ready but its still in need of alot of parts to finish, but this one needs paint and then I can throw it together... I was overwhelmed once I got home and started unloading the parts. Here is where I am so far!

Here is what Im thinking!

My buddy Matt (sabinabomber on here) has offered to finish the paint and help get it ready. Hopefully have it painted in the next few weeks as long as we can get time off work and get all the cars shuffled around!

Then I think Ill pull the drivetrain out of the coupe and set it in this one. Now I have the rear end out of the coupe that I can use, but is narrowed. Should I mini tub this one also??? We could have it done in a day... My current plans are to run the 8.5 class this spring with this car and I have no need for the big tire but Id love to have that option.

Help with some suggestions on what to do!!!! Im pretty open and Id love to hear some feedback!

The only problem with mini tubing it now is the cage might get in the way where that shock tower bar and x is? but other than that id do it for sure just in case!!

The mini tubs come inwards just a hair past the shock mounts so if it could be trimmed just a little it would work I think. I may have to talk to Rob and see what he thinks.

That is a sweet car I think the mini tubs look awesome I would do it what kind of power plant you plan on running in it

I think we are gonna just mini tub it! I mounted the 325/50 radials on the Bogart wheels and stuffed them under the coupe to see how they fit and it looks good. I'll be using most of the parts off the coupe till later on. I'll be calling Team Z this week to get everything ordered.

It will be the 427 Windsor with the Ysi and turbo 400 tranny. I'll be switching from the Ysi to run the 8.5 class so I'm not sure what ill be doing from there.

mini tub is up to you but a lot of guys can get it done with a 8,5 or a 10in. tire.
i need that shifter bracket get ahold of me lol!

Me and a buddy just did my coupe and it turned out pretty good. I mounted the 325/50 ET Streets on the Bogart wheels that came with the car and tried them on the coupe and they fit pretty good. Ill be taking the rear end out of it and putting under this car. I just want the option to run any size tire I want.

Got it out to the other garage with the Coupe tonight and pulled the front suspension back out. Im trying to get the coupe back on the ground so I can move it out while its painted.

I'll take a look. I got a couple tranny's but I'm not sure what they are. The color is tangelo pearl. It looks good.

I sure hope so! I'll have one of them out no matter what!!! I'm ordering more paint materials for this one this weekend. Then its off to paint. Then its time to start slingin some parts on. I still need a lot of parts but its early yet!

As soon as I get that done Ill have pics up. Im looking at trying to find a complete GT roller for parts so I can get all the little parts I need.

Yeah Mike, what all I need I figured would be easier to buy a complete roller. I need a lot of little stuff that will make it a headache. All the glass is needed except quarter glass, all the door hardware, hatch hardware, dash, steering column, moldings, mirrors, wiring harness for everything including the fuse box, and a few other things I'm sure. I know a lot of people have pcs of what I need but it would be easier and cheaper to buy complete and sell what I don't need or scrap it.

I did manage to get my AJE th400 cross member today. Hope it fits as good as it looks!

all i gotta say is this car is gonna be a beast hope u do good on the strip looks like a huge but very very nice project GL with it if u dont have one i have a cowl and grey dashboard for the fox body if u dont find them or have them

Well this one has went to the side to finish up the black GT but I still work on it somewhat. I had J&J Racing (Outlaw85) build me an 8.8 for it using all my old parts. Turned out great! Finished the mini tubs up this past weekend with the help of SabinaBomber. Also got an AFR headed motor lined up from my buddy Raz. May be able to get this one out later this year if possible.

I was thinking of having 2 bars come off of it to the coil over mount. I don't know if that would work as well or not.

Picked up some new parts today! Got a little 302 with AFR 185 heads and Victor Jr. and also a PA C4 with brake. Thanks Raz and Josh!

Yeah its still here! I just picked these parts up for it today. The mini tubs are done now, I had Josh Ashley build me an 8.8, and now I have this motor and tranny for it. I need a K member and flywheel and this will be in.

My main focus is still to have the black car done first but this one seems to be getting as much attention! I think its due to running across good deals and being in my way!! This one may turn into a driver for me. This motor with a small kit should run pretty good and still run on pump gas. I still need to find a donor car for the rest of the parts body wise but it gets closer each day.
