I've been looking into one for a carry pistol, but I'm unsure how well a compact 1911 is for such duty. Does anyone have first hand experience?

I haven't carried a 1911, but I have carried a 3" Springfield XD, but I prefer to carry my Ruger LCP. A buddy of mine carried a 3" Springfield 1911, but he switched to a Kel-Tec PF9. In my opinion, the heavier the gun, the less you tend to carry, and a .45 does you no good when it's left at home. I carry my LCP with me just about everywhere I go. I use a back pocket holster from Stoner Holster's, and that setup is very easy to live with. The gun fully loaded with the holster is only 14 oz.'s.

The EMP is only a 3" barrel, mid 20oz in 9mm and 40 s&w. I'm a bigger framed guy and used to carrying extra weight around all day (tools and whatnot. I come from construction so the weight isn't an issue). I was just wondering how well such a small framed 1911 shoots and carries.

I googled it and found this review. It's the only one I read but not good.
