Most run -10 from the tank to the pump and then -8 from the pump up to the engine/regulator. What pump are you going to run?

I run a holley blue, nothing wrong with it other than it is extremely noisy. There are better pumps but it will get the job done. I used to run the tank insert and just ran -8 for everything.

Generally "vane" style pumps are noisier than "gerotor" style pumps. The holley red, blue, and black are vane style pumps. Mallory Comp 140 is a nice pump that is the gerotor style. Holley has a HP series pump that is also gerotor style.

I have used the Mallory Comp 140 pump and regulator, loved it.
No. 8 is more than sufficient for your current application based on what you have stated.
