Got in my mustang the other day to start it and it gave me one crank then clicking noises. Does this mean my battery is dead? I've been having some issues with my car firing right up then running it around. Then after I let it sit for a few and then trying to start it again I get nothing. But if I wait for a few minutes it fires right up.
Someone had told me it's because I have the battery relocated to the trunk and that my battery cables might be the problem. I know nothing to this because of the battery being in the trunk and the length of the cable. I know alot of you guys run batteries to the trunk, can anyone give me some sort of an idea of what problem/s I'm running into and how I might go about getting them fixed since I don't know anything about this part :o
Thanks

man i would make sure the grounds r good in the back and a good one from motor to the body. it takes a good battery if its in the back.

you may even have to run a ground up to the block just to help the current pass easier. Clicking means your battery is under voltage. You should take it somewhere to have it properly tested to rule out dead cells or weak. Then you will want to check out the alternator and the circuits that keep it going to make sure its working properly and putting out the proper voltage.

Might get your starter soleniod checked out too, along with checking your grounds.

if battery is relocated, use a bigger cable to back, ground from body to engine good, and dont use underdrive alt pulley, keep stock one..

Hey just wanted to know if you got it fixed or not cause I am having a similar problem. Only my battery is in the stock location. Sometimes it will start fine but other times it will slowly crank and my lights will dim and everything then it will either click or make some funny noise that I can't even describe. I put a new starter in it last year (but it was a cheap ebay one & I just had advance auto check my battery and it is fine) Any suggestions? Not trying to thread jack just seeing if you have fixed your problem or if anyone else might know what mine is doing. I haven't checked the ground wires yet but plan to this weekend, just wanted to make a check list. Thanks.
