He broke the upper u-joint from the column output shaft. He over torqued the adjusting nut on it, split the u-joint collar right in half.

Well had the steering fixed and now back to the engine. Damn didn't even get to take it down the track yet. I had plans on taking it to e20 Friday to see what it has. Since I decided to go with the solid roller cam I always adjust the valves if needed. I don't know if the springs were just old and weak but I found four of them broke. Im really just piss the f__k off right now. Why couldn't they break after Friday to see what this beast would run. It looks like I probably won't have this fixed by the end of the racing season. Hopefully a miracle will happen but until then. Later

That's really odd.... The car looked really good at the cruise in though, glad you got to drive it down.

Hopefully nothing cause them to break and the broke just because they were old.

It will get fixed and be back on the road soon hopefully.

Its a good thing you found it before hand though. You are only out a set of springs as it is but if you was to run it hard, you may have hurt it really bad. Everything happens for a reason! Good luck with it!

Im a running a 620 solid roller cam. I checked the springs and they were good for a 800 plus cam. Not sure about all the other numbers but imhhoping some luck will start coming my way. I have been lazy on this build but the weather will be start getting better here soon so I finally ordered some new valve springs. Hopefully this week I can get them and by the weekend I can have the car running again. I will see what she runs and maybe upgrade the cam down the road.

Are they solid roller springs? If so, what tool are you going to use to put them on while on the car? I don't see that happening easily.
cyah92
03-10-2016, 06:23 PM
They are comp cam solid roller springs. The tool I bought is pretty easy to use. I took off two springs so far. I agree about putting the springs back on might be a little pain in the ass but I got a buddy said he would help if needed. I got alot of faith in me and seeing me succeeding in this little adventure. Pray for me either way.

Done and done. Good luck, those things are a pita to get compressed and put the locks in while on the car. What tool are u using?

I finally got it down to the track again friday. The first time down I couldn't get a full pass due to it being all over the track. I was trying to figure out what I could do to fix this problem. I just needed to know if it was the front alignment being of or the rear end just not set right. The funny part is that I actually had some luck on this one. I decided to get a front end alignment done to it and damn if that didn't straighten it right up. I want to thanks John down at tire discounters on Galbraith road down by vine. It seems like you fix the problem and I really appreciate it. So I finally made 3 straight passes in the row. The car is launching excellent and driving down the track smooth. Imy best pass was a 11.53. This thing definitely needs a good tune now. As much work I put in to this engine it should be running 10s all day long. Its been awhile since I posted so hopefully I can get it tuned soon to let everyone know what I can get out of it.

Well it's been a little while since I posted. The cars fuel pump died on me. Been trying to figure out a different fuel setup. I decided to order a new a1000 fuel pump. I'm going to get it running and then get it tuned so I can try to make it somewhere in the tens. I will eventually put a fuel cell in. Until next time.

Got an update on the stang. Took it to mikes at Dayton performance to get the Final tune on the car. That's what I thought anyways. Lol. Got it up there and found a few minor snags but mike was nice enough to let me fix them in his shop. Had a little problems tuning but mike found the problem and finally got to put up some decent numbers through the power glide. I miss placed my tune sheet but got 412hp and I think 390 something to the wheel. But we had another snag. Yeah I know that's my luck. It wasn't really bad but had to spend some more money. I ran out of injectors around 5000 rpms. I bought some 60lb injectors so now I'm ready to take it back to mikes to get this car finished and ready for spring. Until then thanks for reading.

351w stroked to a 395ci. 13 1/2 to 14/1 compression. 620solid roller can. Twisted wedge heads 200 cc with 202/160. victor Jr. Intake with an 90 degree elbow with a 90mm acufab throttle body with a 4inch Anderson pipe. 1 3/4 headers with three inch exhaust all the way back with some blow through mufflers. I think that sums it up.

Finally got my car done from getting it tuned with the 60 injectors. Mike did a wonderful job like usual. The car pushed 420hp and 390 ft pounds of torque to the wheel through a power glide with a 3500 stall. I was told thing should shit and get down the track so I am ready to get with it.

Figures out to north of 510 with a manual trans in it. So really good. Car sounded incredible on the dyno, numbers don't do it justice. Way more than a 3500 stahl, it flashed to 5k every pull.
