I will be getting a set of gt40p heads, I currently have an x cam in it. With that being said it also has an explorer intake bigger throttle body and stuff. What cam would be the best for what im doing now?

X2 change the springs to match the cam, port the lower intake, have the heads machined for 3/8 studs for rr use.

The X cam is not at all right for that combo. I think the heads stop flowing at .500", so what good is a cam with .542 lift? In any case it's not going to be well matched to the combo. If you had to have a motorsport cam, I'd sell the X and buy an E.

Quick search brought up this...

The 2031 cam profile was designed for the GT40 head. Reason I know this, is when I rebuilt my old 92 LX that had a Cobra Top End I wanted a cam that would match the heads that I had sent out to be ported.

After researching cams, I called Crane and was told the best cam for the 1993-1995 Cobra was the Powermax 2031.

The cam is a proven cam.

I to have been told that anything larger then .500 lift on gt40s is too much. Im running an ecam with my setup. I think there is a ecam with low miles for sale in the valvetrain section.

a b303 cam with 1.7 rockers or a steeda #18 will make the most power due to the added duration. I had pheads,b303cam, stock shortblock, cobra intake, full exhaust, pulleys, tbody, 24lb inj, c&l maf and bbk cai my car made 275/316 if i remember correctly and that was with stock rockers id say i wouldve been closer to the 285-290 mark with 1.7s
