I know I have not been on or posted much in a while, But figured I'd update for those that give a $hit ... (A Few have asked)

It's been a rough year health wise, I held them off for 2 years from operating on my neck (they want/need to fuse 5 vertebre) due to my F'd up spine ... Well in the last round of MRI's my Dr. suggested we take a look at my Lumbar fusion, And Low and Behold wouldn't you know it, It's F'd Up !!! Apparently at some point in the last 5 years 1 of the screws is snapped in 2 inside my vertebre and has allowed the rod to move under the "wing" part of your spine above the implants ... Which in turn has caused a strain on the other rods and screws and has made them actually hollow out from the movement !!!
So the Neck has been put on hold again to fix the lower ... I go in tomorrow for an "Exploritory" kind of surgery to see what has actually occured and what they need to do to fix it (The 17 ounces of titanium mess with all of the tests) They are pretty sure that the broken screw may be too close to risk trying to remove the tip end, Because of how close it is to the nerve ... But leaving it may allow it to move on it's own and hit the nerve ...So it's kind of a catch 22 !!!
They do know that the new fusion will involve at least 2 more vertebre and possibly 3 more because of the next on up being so ate up with the stenosis and premature osteoarthritis ... So over the next few months I'm looking at going from 3 fused vertebre to 10-11 !!!

And to top it all off ... My wife is holding off from getting her badly over needed surgeries to have her Gallbladder removed (due to a stone the size of the Gallbladder) and the Kidney stone surgery to have the 50-60 kidney stones removed (multiple 1-2cm stones) ... She has had 7 lithotripsy's 0ver the last 3 years for Kidney stones and the last one caused more problems with her Gallbladder than dissolving the Kidney stones ...

So needless to say it's been fun around here !!! LOL

Like I said, I just thought I'd update those that G.A.S. !!!

Well I'm still here and all my parts work so far !!! LOL

Luckily there is only one really F'd up one, So only 2 fusions instead of 3 !!! Yea for Me !!! LOL But he did get a little better look at the broken screw, And was able to move the rod enough so as long as I don't do anything strenuous I should be good until the next surgery ...

He his really worried about the broken screw and how close it is to the nerve ... He basically use an easyout to remove it and it's so close to the nerve he's still unsure about trying to remove it and it going wrong, Or leaving it and it moving as the bone tries grow back aroung it ...
We will see ...

Thanks Again Everyone ...

I do get to keep the hardware they are removing !!! I'm going from 17 to 23 ounces of titanium on this one !!! LOL

Hope it works out for you.

I know what back pain is like since the past year I have had back problems as well and I know yours has to be worse. I have a buldged disk between C4 & C5 that puts pressure on my spinal cord. I lost the use of my right arm last year for about a month. Couldn't pick anything up and couldn't lift it past my shoulder. Not from pain, just physically could not do it. That was the weirdest feeling I've ever experienced.

Not something I would wish anyone to go through.

Well short update ... Had the first surgery on 3/22 to remove the hardware and broken screw ... He was able to remove it all except for the broken end of the screw I started leaking spinal fluid ... He stopped that process and patched it to stop the leaking, So he started to fix/repair/replace 6 other areas with the same spinal fluid leakage ... So I was sewn back up with basically nothing holding my spine together between L3-L4 L4-L5 !!!oi So for the 2 months I have basically been ordered to not do ANYTHING ... Anyway tomorrow I go in for yet another surgery but this time they have to go in from the front, which involves a Vascular Surgeon to do the opening and closing due to the intestines/etc. needing to be removed as well as my aorta needing to be moved ... It's a little more involved than the last 2 so I will more than likely be down for quite a while ... I am not supposed to ride in a car for 5 weeks following this one ... I will post ad soon as I can to update everyone ... A prayer or 2 wouldn't hurt ... LOL
