Anybody use Moates Quarterhorse to do their own tuning ?? Price seems reasonable, just wondering how complicated it really is ??
Do you need to be a genius to figure it out or can someone with average intelligence master it ??

This, and he sells it. There's a whole community out there that does this. David Claffin on sbftech (when I was on there) was/is pulling 26-28 mpg out of a 306 fox with a 3.73 rear by using a QH and lots of datalogging and trials.

I use A quarterhorse, Binary Editor, An LM2 and the strategy from Adam Marrer. Now all I need to do is learn more about it. Dave Dalke is going to be doing a tuning class in the spring on it.

Adam @ s&m motorsports uses it and from what I've talked with him about it, he loves it.

Good info, I looked into it a little more, seems like it would take quite a bit of time to learn and get up to speed with it.....

I was at mike bells shop on sunday and he was tuning a car with it. I have never seen one in person before but looks like you have a laptop hooked to it and tune from it.

Yep, 100% live tuning via laptop. No need to turn off the car, pull the chip/handheld tuner, load old tune to a laptop/computer, tweak tune, reload to the tuning device, install to car and restart. Its much more streamlined. Make a pull, read the datalog, tweak the tune and pull again without turning the car off or getting out of it. I would guess that the live logging along with the dyno files would be a powerful mix in the hands of any tuner.
