I had a turbo charged 4v in mine. The swap really is that bad to do at all.

I have a FRPP 4V Aluminator in my 86. It's here at the shop if you want to check it out but we can't go for a ride.

There's a turbo taking up the passenger seat. :cool2:

If you can't spell "route", you might not want to attempt this swap.

ITS NOT A WALK IN THE PARK. IF YOU DONT HAVE SOME GOOD MECHANIC SKILLS U MIGHT WANT TO JUST CHANGE GEARS. IT TAKES SOME DOING.

getting the motor and tranny in the car are the easy part, its getting the wiring all straightened out thats a pita. A friend of mine has a 4v motor in a fairmont with a fox body porno red interior and a new edge gt gauge cluster and he said it wasnt bad at all until he had to basically make the wiring harness.

It is not a walk in the park, but it is badass swap. I put a terminater in a c3 corvette chassis'd Cobra kit ca.r, now that was a pain in the ass! Any mod motor turbo car will help give you an idea of what you are looking for. Give me a shout if you want to discuss this further

i have one. if your not good at wiring or dont have about 7k to spend forget it. The cheapest way is to buy a donor car but 03 04s are pulling about 9k wrecked right now... id take you for a ride but you would drive you crazy until you got one of your own... im in the process of building another one now... heres what im working with for nowhttp://i748.photobucket.com/albums/xx126/svtfox/car%20shoot%20downtown/carphotoshoot103.jpg

Id get a n/a 4v and do a build on it personally. Rather do a new 5.0 actually but probably a lot more money involved. I have dreams of a built n/a 4v in a gutted fox, set to run spray with an auto

An N/A 4V can make 500rwhp staying under 290c.i., but you better have some cash. Like 15k+.

If you want to build a fast car, it'd be a ton easier just to put a centri blower/turbo on it. Unless you do a Terminator swap, then you're good to go.

i am going the new 5.0 route built for boost

Forgot about the Coyote, they make insane power with some boost.

After building my Mach I would tend to go the opposite direction. To me they are an awesome motor and can make some serious power but it takes a shit ton of money to get there. I don't have the final dyno numbers on my car yet (it ran out of injectors an fuel pump at around 5700) but right now it's just slightly above my big block.

The BB is cheap to build, running NA it can be beat on for years on end and is still running strong.

The 4v on the other had just sounds like a pissed of wasp that might give up the ghost at anytime. I however haven't hat a 4v at these levels before we will see how reliable it is.

No doubt about that. Seems like everyone is in love with fox bodies these days. Oddly enough I saw two bad notchbacks last Friday. A black one at Cabellas in MI and a silver one in Norwalk.

By the way I have a 4v motor for sale, just saying.:cool1:

so your 281 made more then your big block? that seems impressive to me. I have never had any problems beating the balls off any 4 valve I have owned and I mean beating the crap out of them. so power for power and the big block gets how many mpg vs the 4 valve?

5.0 Coyote all the way.

Yep, the 521 motor only dynoed at just under 700, the Mach1 made 750. For me though the big difference is a motor that was built for about 10k compared to one that I don't even wanna say how much.

After finally driving the Mach again I may change my opinion. I haven't even explored it yet and man I am impressed. When It was running a V2 it had a slight lag before boost would come on. With the build now it is immediate. It doesn't matter if your at a dead stop, tooling in town or out doing 55/60. As soon as you punch it, the car just shit and gets.
