I haven't had a problem with mine. Now the kimber compact 1911 the extractor tends to break. Easy fix though you get one from Wilson combat

I have a stainless Kimber pro carry 2 and I love it. This gun is one of the most accurate handguns I have shot. Mine has the aluminum frame and stuff and it still gets kinda heavy to carry. I just picked up a s&w bodyguard. 380 to carry everyday. Depending on where I'm going... I sometimes carry both, lol. One of the most important things to making a gun comfortable to carry is spending the money on a good holster. I bought one from Stoner Custom Holsters for my kimber and its super nice. Got one on the way for the bodyguard. Kinda pricey but we'll worth it

Custom is a full size model. Look to the pro or ultra size for carry.

I sell a lot of the American Tactical Titan. They are a good compact 1911.

Can't find the article I read about it but something to the effect of the the old CEO was a quality over anything type guy but that cut sown on profit. The new guy is looking to make $ and there were a few police forces that had to re supply entire department do to so many issues. Now that said it is only what I read as my 1911 is a Springfield

Kimber's problem is not so much poor quality control, but a poor external extractor design.
Their guns with internal extractors have almost zero problems, while those with externals tend to be nightmares.

I'm new to the kimber world but I was told by kimber that as long as you put 300 rounds of .45 acp 230 grain FMJ and break it in everything will be fine. I haven't had a jam of miss feed at all... I have had a miss fire but that was due to a primer malfunction on the federal ammo

I got a few kimbers and a few colt gold cups at my gun store hanging on the wall for sale...and a few cheap 1911 if you ever want to come by and check them out before you buy something. It's Deadwood guns and ammo in carlisle Ohio. My boss knows a lot more then me

How many rounds do you anticipate shooting out of this? Are you looking at a full size or a compact? What's your price point? Are you willing to put the time in to learn how to use a 1911 instinctively?

I'm a 1911 guy (without a 1911 at the moment, I need to get on that!), and there's a lot that I could throw out there, but let's start with that before the floodgates open :)
