i have a 2000 ford focus my temp gauge is jumping all over i think it is the temp sensor i was wondering if any one can tell me where it is located at.

look on the back of the head under the coil

Somewhere in there. I just replaced the one on my 03 ranger, between #2 an #3 plug, under the coil pack.

If it is like the escort zx2 it is on the thermostat housing.

i'm not seeing it under the coil pack the coil pack is on the side of the motor anywhere else it might be

in back of motor top radiator hose goes to it,i think.

Check behind the alternator, should be there stuck into the head. May have to remove the alt. to get it changed out.

ok i found out that my focus does not have a temp sensor it has a cyclinder temp sensor that controls the temp gauge on the dash and you have to take the altornater off to get to it

^^^that's what my ranger has too. had to change it out last week because it snapped off when i was changing the valve cover gasket. i think it does tie into the cooling an heating system too. had to drive a few days without one an my heat was not that hot. glad you got it figured out.
