View Full Version : Sub belt mount location?

Well Im finally getting around to mounting my sub belts and wondered how most are doing it. I looked for a good diagram or instructions from the restraint manufacturers but have not had much luck. I understand it should be behind the chest line. Mine has two belts with mounts that go into one with the cam lock. Are the bolts for the mount tabs supposed to go through the floor or can they be tied into the seat frame? Kirkey seats by the way. RCI platinum 6 point harness. Thanks

Both of these show what I have always been told. I run a 6 point harness in my car also and found somewhere that they should be mounted side my side with about 6" between them.

Do not mount them to the seat.

Just a note, his seats are bolted direct. they are not adjustable. I dont know why they couldnt be bolted direct to the seat.

Are the seats aluminum?

I bolted mine to a 1/2" bolt that comes threw the floor that is used by my bolt in driveshaft loop.

Yes, I would guess 1/8". I dont see the sub belt being pulled that hard even in the worst situation. The lap belts are mounted in the factory bolt locations.

I was going to go with that setup Rick but it looks as if it would put the sub belt mount way too far forward and not behind the plane of the chest when seated? My sub belt hole in the seat is about 6" behind the front seat mounting bolts which I believe that bracket mounts to.

I haven't mounted mine yet because I'm working on the wiring still but I never second guessed it. I'm sure seat position will matter and I'm pretty close to the wheel at my height.

That is only stopping from 30mph. How fast will the car go in the 1/4?

I'm not smart enough to figure out how much force the sub belt would see but I know I'm not mounting anything that is holding me in place to 1/8" aluminum.
