I have seen a bunch of threads and articles on the GT40P head swap i am doing but what i haven't seen is a good one to tell me what cam runs best with these. i see E cams and F cams, trick flow stage one and comp cams version. reading these specs it almost sounds as if the stage one trick flow would flow the best and it is also cheaper. any thoughts guys? maybe the piston to valve clearance isn't enough? other cam ideas? this engine is a 90's stock 5.0, i am going to buy a spring kit but trying to figure out which one i need. Alex's parts sells a GT40P spring kit goo to .600" lift for 100 bucks while trick flow is good to .550" (i think) and it is 160. any input would help from anyone.

Thanks

I used the trick and it was pain less. I have read that with gt40s it is best to stay around 0.500 lift. Trick flow stage 1 would be your best bet.

The Ford cams seem to work good with Ford heads, not sure why, but they do... small iron heads like B-cams for some reason, I went 12's on stock heads and a B cam years ago.... STOCK heads...

Not the best choice, but you can find the alphabet cams used for around $100 or less.....

Ive also done a bunch of research on cam choice for GT40P's as I am also planning to put P heads on my 306. After all the research and combos I have read about, I am going to go with an AFM N41 cam.

Check out Anderson Ford Motorsport website and look up the AFM N41 for specs/info. It also says in the description "best cam for GT40". It is a bit pricey at $299 but I have read a bunch of threads where people are using this cam with the P heads and most are running 12's and some even in the 11's.

Do a google search "AFM N41 GT40P" and click on the youtube link that comes up. The sound is amazing. By doing this search you will also see alot of stuff that you can read about to see why I am choosing this cam over the alphabet cams or even the TFS1 cam.
