looking for some tips on main bearings, rod bearings, and oil pumps cause as it stands now im going with clevite 77 rod bearings, federal mogul main bearings and ford racing oil pump...i would rather keep the price on the oil pump down a little so melling is pretty much out of the question. thanks

Oil systems is one of the things you never want to skimp on - heck, nothing internal.

I'd rather run head bolts and get a better oil pump than run head studs if that's an option for you.

I would use either a Melling billet gear oil pump or a Triangle Speed Shop billet gear pump. Neither is cheap but you can sometimes find deals on the Melling pump.

I believe its a stock Cobra pump that uses cast gears but I am not certain.

Pretty sure the ford racing pump is just a stock Cobra pump.

^He's right. I just pulled a broken pump out of a pretty fresh engine and put a melling in it. It was ok thankfully, but he regretted his decision to cut that corner on his engine build. You should def put a melling unit in it, there are things to skimp on, and that is one you shouldn't.
