im getting ready to do some things to my 2001 GT i got a few weeks ago.I know all about modifying pushrod motors and making cars work.but dont know much about mod motors.its an automatic and im not bustin into the transmission till it needs it.i ran it at a crappy 1/8th mile track a few weeks ago and it went a 9.56 in 1/8th and i know it would have probably went in the 40s at a good surface.i had a 99 GT a few years back and it would run 9.40s and 14.40s at the track and the only thing it had was exhaust just like this car.so im gettin ready to put a cold air kit on it and 4:10 gear.what after that.i want to get it to run as quick as possible before i decide if im gonna spray it or not.ive thought of pullies and stuff but are they really worth the money to do?im gonna take it and have it SCT tuned with a chip on dyno at some point.

Weight reduction is big... Add cams, cold air, long tubes, gears, convertor, suspension upgrades and loose 400lbs and it will run low 12's with a good tune, maybe better.. This car went consistent 12.20's with what i mentioned above.. Good Luck

4.30's, a good converter, and a tune would really wake the car up.

Two things not to fear with these things...short gears and loose converters. The modern lock up converter makes the 3800 I have in my car drive almost like a stocker. I would talk to dirtydog since he acutally understands what goes on inside a converter and they are pretty much voodoo to me but I would something that stalls around 3500-3800 would be right.

My friend has a 99 gt and with adding nothing more then 4:10 gears, drag radials, lower control arms, cat back exhaust and a cold air with a good tune and the car run 13.20s in decent air. To get into the twelves you'll have to add a convertor, but i wouldn't put more then a 3500 stahl in it and it will need to be a lock up.. Precision industries makes a really good converter with a 2 year warranty but the cost about 700 delivered and they will even change the stahl one time for free... I wouldn't buy the motor you mentioned in the PM.. Just saying..

stay away from pulling the heads and cam inless you are ready to degree the cams, mod motors run like carp if the cams are not degreeged right, underdrive pully/k member/long tubes/x pipe/catback, gears helps a whole lot and a converter, get ahold of alan at dirtydog that what he does and is good,, good luck
