My fiance' has had her first car sitting down in our extra garage now since 1999. It is a 1992 Z28 Camaro with 56,000 original miles. Other than this picture from last week it hadn't seen daylight since about 2005. Once she got Formula in 1998 , this one just went into storage. The fuel pump is currently not functional but the engine with a fresh battery turned over smooth as silk. My plans for now are to get it back to road worthy condition, detail it up slick and go from there. More than anything I want it mobile so I can move it around the garage easier! Plus I hate seeing it just sit. Her dad would be pretty pumped to see it pull up in their driveway again too.

Looks nice...is that the one with the 350 instead of the 305?

It is a Tune Port 305 with an automatic. The car is going to clean up great I think. The fuel pump is in transit so hopefully it will be running in the next few days. Once its on the lift I am going to change all the fluids and service the transmission. Its probably due for its 50,000 mile service!

We also have a Z28 with a 350. It is actually a black B4C car with the same appearance package as the purple one. Supposedly it wasn't suppose to be built that way. Didnt IROC go away in 1989-90?

90 was the last year for the IROC, it went to Dodge after that. The 350 was available in the 92 Z28.

Irocs last year was 1990. That purple is the 25th anniversary special edition color and great looking at that. B4C is the police option. It has a "wonder bar" front end brace, heavier springs and thicker sway bars as well as all being automatic 350's.
Make sure while you have the tank out you check it for rust on the inside. Their prone to the gas tanks rusting which will cause every fuel pump you put in it to fail quickly.
Looks like a really nice car. The tuned port cars were relatively trouble free so you should get a lot of enjoyment out of it. The tuned port motors also make a good amount of torque so they smoke the tires pretty easily but arent much after 3,000 rpm. I hope you enjoy it. There are becomming fewer and fewer of them around.

I ended up trading some steel for the labor on swapping the fuel pump. It should be buttoned up tomorrow. I have been researching wheel options while it been in the shop. Looks like most of the world uses 2 inch adapters and Vette wheels. Once it's all tuned up and road ready I will address that.

Do not change ANYTHING cosmetic about that car. I'm not a fan of most 3rd Gen F-Bodies, but that thing is PERFECT. I know most people don't like the stock wheels on those, but I actually do. I wonder how well they polish?

These wheels would suck to polish. I have a vision of billet wheels on it! Maybe some period correct 17 inch Boyd's or something from the early 90s. The exterior of the car is staying as is. Once it is buffed up I'm going to have some paintless dent removal done for some door dings. I was almost hoping the stock exhaust was rusty so it could be replaced but the guy working on it said it sounded good and was in great shape.

I do like them on there. I had this picture that had me thinking about those. I am still leaning more toward billet wheels though.

did you get the fuel pump yet? I had a 92 rs back in the day and the fuel pump went out in it....the recommended installation instructions sucked! I found that you had to unhook the rear axle and take down the exhause to get the tank down :( I said screw it and very carefully cut a a hole in the back and did it nice. I basically gave it an access door and weather stripped it out. I made it look like it was made with it.

The rearend had to be dropped down to get the tank out. Luckily I didn't have to mess with it. We traded some scrap steel to a local mechanic to do the job. He is still doing a few things to it right now. He said it went smooth as silk and runs great. It had a wheel cylinder that was leaking, so he is addressing that. We should have it back anytime.

I had a red one like that that I made into an IROC clone. I always planned on dropping in a big block but, ya know how that goes. It got rear ended in front of my girl friends house by a Porsche 911 going mach 2. I had JUST gotten out of it when it happened. The Porsche guy was completley hammered and tried to blame me for parking it so far off the curb until the officer showed him where it was parked BEFORE he plowed into it. The bumper of my car was pushed all the way to the back of the front seats and somehow the radio came on and was blaring. Freaky.
