Hey guys I am in the process of putting my motor back together and was just curious as to about how much getting a tune generally costs. The motor is going in my 94 GT and its nothing major 306 w/GT40P heads with minor porting and GT40 intake, TFS Stage 1 Cam and then bolt-ons. Any ideas? Like I said I was just curious and figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

My dyno time to tune from scratch was $450.00. WELL worth it. Don't chince out on this, and get a good reputable tuner with a proven record. A tuner who hangs his hat and talent on his ability to tune for driveability is one who takes his time. This is a good thing in my book.

Prolly around 3-350 I had same setup on my 95 but had lil issue on dyno.cost depends on where u go and if u have any issues on it also, good luck with project!also calculate your chip into the cost if you don't have one.

Thanks guys I know I def don't want to cheap out on the tune for sure. Were is a good place to get a chip or is it just easier for the shop to get one. Appreciate the help.

Most tuners will have their preferences. I'd let them provide it so that you know everything is compatible with their tuning package.

The Moates quarterhorse is the newest up and coming chip..... I know Adam can get these already. I'm sure others can get them too.... a plus side is, you can datalog after you leave the dyno. And if need-be, make changes. Much better than an SCT flip chip. And more reliable. Since you don't really have any real world tuning experience, a baseline dyno tune is a must to get the kinks worked out with your soon-to-be set up.

Just make sure you dont show up to the dyno with any issues. have you timing set at 10deg, have a fresh tank of 93 and make sure your plugs are fresh and gapped properly. Some tuners will split your wig if you have to stop and make changes to stuff like that once they get started.

With your setup I wouldn't spend the money to tune it. It should run pretty good. By the time you pay for the chip and dyno time I don't think it would be worth it.

Adam tuned (I should say retuned from scratch) my 05 as well. I bragged on him so much after the tune has been completed, I didn't want to appear I was over selling his ability. The guy is awesome. Listen to him, let him do it, oh and BUY HIM A GREEN MONSTER POWER DRINK. It's the least you can do for all the time and patience he puts into a tune.

BTW Adam, there is one on your desk. I was in Wednesday while you are in BG.

Mine was on MD's dyno twice.. once when the Whipple went on and later when I upped the boost. I bought the SCT hareware for whatever it cost- then I think the first dyno tune was about $200, the second was about $150. Pretty simple setup I had though.
