I have been put in charge of buying one for my mom and dad. Is a 2013 any differant/better than a 20012? I know a 20012 may be harder to find, they want a new one. Are there any options to make sure to get, they all look mostly optioned the same. Is there a good dealer/salesman to deal with local?

Thanks for any help! DR

I'm not sure if the 2013 GT500's are available yet ?? You could probably get a heck of a deal on a leftover new 2012 GT500 though. I bought mine back in December at X Plan price less a $2500 "advertising" rebate or something like that....not all dealers were offering the rebate though.

You could have Beefcake do a search for any remaining 2012's pretty easily.

If they are willing to spend the money and want best get the 2013. They made some very significant changes including a the TVS supercharger and increasing displacement to 5.8L. They are rated at 662HP 631 ft-lbs.

If it was me personnally i would wait and get the 13 . I cant see how they will be able to sell any leftover 12s after the 13s become available.

My mechanic friend at ford said they will have a track pack option too on the 13s

Bring some coin. The 2013 is making 662 crank HP as stated. Its a 5.8L which is a true 351 CID. Its getting raved reviews. Good luck.

If you buy it and take delivery before May 20th bring it to the Cruise in and let everyone druel on it.

BTW - No X,A,or Z plan on Boss 302 or GT500 models at last check when I applied for myu X-plan PIN. Expect the asking price to be above MFGR list as well in most if not all cases due to supply and demand. GOOD LUCK.

The 2013 gt500 is the fastest mustang ever built. It has launch controll. There's a ton of options you can get. Like racing seats and a glass roof. They say the glass roof gt500's are going to be the rare ones. It has the new 5.8L 351ci 662 hp at the crank. Plus I think its the last year that Carroll Shelby had a hand in. You'll have to search the internet but you can get them. Like said before get with Beefcake at Beechmont Ford they are a svt dealer I think. If not I think Mt Orb is a svt dealer. They say these cars are running mid to low 11's from the factory. A few mods, tune, and some slicks you may be in the high 9's. If you go to svtperformance.com and go to the gt500 section and there should be some info on there.

SVT dealer? Yea, that ended 7 years ago. ALL Ford dealers can get "SVT" vehicles since 05. Of course, SVT hasn't really designed any vehicles since 2005 either. All the GT500's have been done by Team Mustang. SVT was actually completely disbanded for a while. I believe they are back though. The Ford GT was the last true SVT vehicle.

I had to put the search on hold, my Mom just had a stroke. So we have to see what happens in the next litle while. It was really going to be her car and an investment as well.

Thanks for all the tips and if you can say a little prayer for my Mom... she ordered a '69 mach 1 and because of some family issues (I was a sick little kid most the time) she had to not take it. I just thought it would be a neat deal for her...

Thanks, Dave

I'm not giving up, Miracles happen every day. I hope you guys get to see a little white haired lady running through the gears on a GT500, she's a standard shift kind of chic.....

What I would give to see that ........

Thanks again for remembering her in your thoughts, Dave
