Sorry to hear this, I've had to put down a couple pets down over the years and it is never easy for what ever the reason.

I am sorry that you have to go through this. I just did not too long ago. He knows how much you love him and I am sure he will be watching over you.

Had to do the same thing with our Boxer 2 years ago. She was our little girl (we do not have children). I lost my grandfather when I was in the Navy. Never got to say goodbye to him, just to come home to the funeral. I feel your pain. Not much hurts worse until you begin losing next of kin, a father, a spouse, a very best friend, ....a grandparent.

Is there any way they can adopt the dog out? That's no reason to put a dog down unless they have really bad health problems and it has taken their quality of life away.
If I didn't have two dogs and two cats I would take the dog just to save its life.

I think you need to be a bit more sensitive to the situation. Not only did he say he is not at home to deal with the situation, but it sounds like his parents are the ones calling the shots anyway. I understand what you are saying but it’s out of his control. Don’t rub more dirt in the wound by saying you will save his dog!
Pegasus I am very sorry you have to go through this. I just lost my pup 2 weeks ago and it’s a very hard thing to deal with. Just remember all the good times and keep your head up.

Definitely agree with that statement 1k fold. Its so tough letting them go but imagine what the poor guy is going through. Im sorry for your loss and wish the best for you.
I hate to say it but getting another pup is a good coping method. Not that Im saying they are replaceable, because they arent. I didnt believe it myself until we had to put our 4 year old Jack Russel down. Our whole family was a complete mess. I was just searching around on Craigslist about a month later and found a lady needing to find a home for 4 JRT pups. I went down and picked one up and it made everything so much easier to deal with. And I really believe part of our old Jack is in this little guy, they act so much a like its not even funny. But again, Im sorry for your loss and just know if you need someone to vent to we all are here for ya! :bigthumb

About 7-8 years ago I busted a Vet's mouth open because he put down a dog without my permission. She was sick, but was getting better, and I really feel like he was just tired of working with her. One year old Jack Russell. My entire family was sick, even though we had only had her about 10 months. They end up being a part of you.
Chris' advice is sound, even though it's not what you want to hear right now. We got another JRT from the same mother a couple months later, who is still with us. Therapy on four paws.

They talked to the vet and he said that his spinalcord had deterated due to age and he beleaved that he had dem chia and he couldn't do anything to make him better or more comfortable I keep thinking about the day I got him I throw a ball and he ran after it tryyed to stop to grab it tripped over himself and how he protected a batch of kittens from my grandmas dumb little bitchy dog Payton only growled twice that was the 1st time the second happend when a raccoon got into his chicken coop when he would got out with me to feed he would sit by the door and wait for you to ask him to come in sorry for to poor grammar and spelling I'm writing this on my iPod and I'm about 2O millers in I just miss my dog so much all you had to do is point to the roll of duct tape and he would get it for you

That sucks Jake... I feel your pain. I had an AWESOME black lab, and he was just about the same way. Would NEVER bark unless you were someone new and you snuck up on him. Never growled... never got in fights... minded real well, and would play fetch until he was out of breath.
Had a stroke one morning and couldnt get up, you could tell by the look in his eyes that something was wrong. He was getting old and getting the typical fatty tumors that labs get, and when he had that stroke, me and dad had to pick him up and take him outside, because we just knew he had to go out... soon as we did, he poo'd all over the front porch... did his damndest to hold it in during the stroke... couldnt get up cuz one of his whole sides went numb and couldnt walk.
We had Buddy cremated and in a pretty little box on the shelf with his picture and a snip of his fur.

Labs are awesome dogs. Ex girlfriend of mine her parents used to breed chocolates. Extremely smart dogs for sure.
