I have a basically bone stock 89 gt. The car has a 100% bone stock longblock with a cold air kit, intake spacer, short belt, gear and exhaust. The car had driven fine for a month or so, but just lately it has formed a very annoying issue. If i hammer into the car real hard it cuts out like it lost power to the motor, falls on its face, the check engine light flashes, and all the warning lights come on til i let out. If I floor it and it does it, it will stay cut out til I let out then it runs normal. If i roll into it slow It's fine. I'm just annoyed with the car now. Any help guys?

Go to autoparts place and have them do a CEL scan printout. Best place to start and its free. Could shed some light on the problem.

I did. It doesn't show any codes cause it only comes on for a sec when i mat it...

It sounds reeeally silly, but a dying alternator can make a car do really retarded things.
When my alt was going out in my Lincoln, the car would cut out, all the lights would flash, and the heater would come on.....
And it would only do it if I hammered it

Lol as silly as that sounds that could be a possibility. Cause its not making enough amperage to power the car

Replacee fuel filter sounds like its going super. Lean. Starving for fuel

If it was "super lean" it would have already melted some stuff. Plugs being the number 1 thing that would be the first to melt. Than that would cause a poor running condition all the time.

The plugs are fine and running it smells like its runnin super rich. I think its the alternator. I matted it today and it and everything happened as usual and I oates attention to the amp gauge pegged 0... As soon as it dropped the cel come on. It has a brand new fuel filter....as of like a month ago. And i don't buy cheap gas
