well its not a mustang but we will see what happens with this. may keep it after its done. or sell it off.

to start off its a 2000 durango r/t i picked this up from my buddies work for 800 bucks with a clear title. ( was an impound got lucky and owner signed title over )

has 146k on it.
underside of the truck is very clean as well as frame. just the front bumper, hatch, and rear 1/4 has some rust. very normal for these trucks.

knew it would most likely need a motor. sludged up bad and ticked to beat hell when running. well it was idling in the shop it spit a rod out the side of the block

here are a few pics. we pulled the motor tonight new motor will start to get prepared to go in this weekend but wont get put in to the following weekend as no one local has a oil pan or a oil pump pick up tube and screen in stock for it.

what i plan on doing before droping the motor back in is...

new oil pan
oil pump, pickup tube, screen.
oil pan gasket
rear main seal
valve covers gaskets
intake gasket
tb gasket

will end up getting a new hatch for it and it needs tires. they dont want to hold air and are dry rotted. dont help tonight somehow when we went to move the dingo outside for the night a crowbar went through the sidewall of the tire

our engine hoist for the night

few pieces of the block, rod cap and then whats left of the bearing.
when it did this it also dent the oil pan up on the mounting flange rendering the stock oil pan junk.

did the RT's have any high perfomance parts on the motors?

nope. only difference is the computer engine wise. gave it like 5 more hp and 15 tq. then a little better flowing muffler.

The biggest performance mod was displacement. Everything else was the same as a 5.2/318.

Cool truck! I used to drive my mom's 5.2 powered Grand Cherokee in bad weather... and it was no slouch! Can't imagine a 5.9!

Hope you did the gasket on the flat plate on the bottom of the intake manifold- most every LA series chrysler needs it. Congrats- its a nice looking truck, my little 360 powered ram sport has 190k and will still wipe a gen I lightning.

yes. i pulled the intake off and re did it just to make sure though, its all back together and runing but still not dead on with the fuel sync. my buddy who owns a shop here in hilliard is gonna stop by with his snap on scanner so we can set the fuel sync to 0.0. we got it set on the cam postion sensor so its running but its still backing firing here and there. from what ive read online no matter what when the dist gets removed be expecting to have to have to re set it. I even made a call to the dealership and asked them what it would run to get the fuel sync set and right away he told me the price of 92 bucks and that this is a very very common issue with the magnum motors after being replaced. he told me even with dropping the dist back in the same place you take it out of can still make it be as far out as +9 when they should be 0. but they can be within 3-4* off and run fine. i think im pretty damn close but still not within what i need to be. other then that its ready to go. going to pick up some new tires for it here in the morning and get that ready so i can put a few miles on it and take it to get inspected since its a ky title.

I have an 01' and love these SUV's. I can't believe you picked this up for $800. The body looks nice as most of these on the road look rough already.
