take it to a tune shop, they should be able to bypass it

Or buy a handheld tuner like sct or diablosport. You can turn it off with one of those. They are on craigslist a lot for as low as $150, maybe less.

I was hoping since it was an 88 then maybe a msd box would override or something along those lines. I usually run a carb and dont have to worry about it.

That would work for an obd2 vehicle, but an 88 mustang is obd1

a tuners not gonna work- obd1 wont even read it,, you got have a chip bruned for it,, that is the only way i know of

If you can find an old FMS Extender, those had rpm and A/f adjustments. I think I still have my old one in the basement somewhere. You dont want to spin a stock shortblock much over the factory rev limit tho.

I have a 306 w/rpm heads and intake, starts pulling hard and hits the rev limiter real quick.
