P/O did a hack job on the Fog lights and I may have bumped one loose causing the wire to fall onto the standard driving lights which in turn short circuited and went up in smoke. I'm in the middle of rewiring it, but I noticed that my turn signals do not work. I have already checked the fuses and all of them are fine. Does the headlight switch need to be in for it to work? The wipers and pump on the turnsignal switch are in working condition.

I had to rewire my 82 and the headlights did not affect my turn signals. It sounds like the switch. I hope you get it fixed

Thanks, it really scared the piss out of me when I saw smoke coming from my dash.
Think I will try to get the relay behind the fuse box and replace that.

Get a test light and see which lines are hot and reference the wiring schematic
