Who's doing it?

Just went to my first RC Short Course race today. Came in 4th in the first heat, 5th in the main with my junk Slash 4x4... running a Castle Creations 3800kv 4 pole :smokin:

Anyone else doing scale racing this summer? Maybe set up an SBZ race?

I never raced but i had a nitro stadium truck years ago. It was fun. I'd like to get a nice brushless rock crawler though. I got sick of going fast, spinning out and hitting something and breaking A arms and such.

I got mine off of Craigslist, but I knew what I was looking for. www.Stormerhobbies.com is hard to beat on kit prices, but you gotta wait. I personally go to a local hobby shop in Wapak and they treat me very good.

My setup? It was $240 for the motor and ESC, truck was $150 used, $50 Li-po battery, geared out to 52-53 MPH and it gets there RIGHT NOW. Traxxas is some of the best stuff for beginners to start with, because every hobby shop carries parts for Traxxas trucks.

Where you racing at?

I have a Slash that I converted to brushless, but no where to play since local hobby shop closed over a year ago.

I have a a Traxxas T-Maxx Nitro and its a blast. They make alot of parts for them and you can do just about everything you can think of to them. I just like the T-Maxx because you can take through tall grass. I adjust the suspension and them I can take it on concrete and just let it fly!..

You can gear any car or truck nitro/electric to go any speed you wish. It just depends on what you want.

Here in the way-up-north Ohio. I'm running a summer series at some backyard tracks 5-10 min. east of Wapakoneta.

Dirt Country outside of Blanchester has a RC track. Pretty sure they have some pretty big races out there with those things too.

there's a place in florence over by all the recruiting stations that has an excellent selection and a ton of parts I did a deans connector swap on mine and couldnt find the parts anywhere went there they had a ton of them.... I just have a traxxas and it's even an electric one and it'll do about 40....

I know they just built a pretty nice track in Wilmington on 73 just off 71. If your coming 71 north you go rt on 73 and it's about 1/2 to 3/4 a mile up on the right.

There is a indoor track down in Batavia now at the old Red Barn Flea market.

There is a dirt oval and indoor carpet track here in Bateville at Linville hobbies. I take my boys down there to watch the races once in a while.

I wish there was a track like that closer.

Reasonable race fees then a $20 membership for free practice and other discounts.

All we have in the area is "backyard" tracks that all run Robotronics timing system. 4 of them are short course tracks and the other is a dirt oval.

A word of warning, stay away from any tracks in the Pleasant Hill, Ohio area. Especially "Uncle Wes RC Speedway". The track is nothing but a s#!t hole and so is the track promoter.

I have a bunch of old stuff. Team Losi JR-X2, 2 Blackfoot trucks and a Kyosho Burns DX. My electrics are brush motors and one has a Novak speed controller.

I haven't messed with them much lately except during Halloween when I mount a big spider to my buggy chassis and chase kids with it.

I've been to The Hobby Shop before, IIRC they have a lot of stuff, but more geared towards airplanes. Also RC Hobby Center on Harshman is a full service Traxxas dealer, and not too far from the base.

I personally deal with A.J. at Dad's Toy Shop in Wapakoneta (15 minutes from the house).
