What 1.6 pedestal roller rockers do you recommend for gt40p heads? I have been leaning towards Scorpions for $250 from Summit. Anyone have any other recommendations or know of a cheaper place to order them from? Thanks!

I have a set of Crane Cams 1.7 I was going to run on my GT40P heads. Brand new in the box and I will sell them for $225.

the 1.7s will make a little more power id go that route if it were me. im pretty sure that a tfs1 is 499/510 so the additional valve lift will help a little

Ended up getting the 1.6 scorpions. They look like really good quality. I am using the stock push rods. Anyone have experience with them? They didn't come with shims, think I will need to pick some up?

Is there any performance gain to running roller rockers? I ask this because I have a set of GT40Ps at Barkers getting cleaned up, valve job, and TFS spring kit installed. I havent decided if I am going to run the stock rocker arms or spend more $ and get roller rockers. I have read tons of threads and from what I read there is no performance gain, just another $200 added to what I have already spent on the heads / work done.
I read so much about people buying Explorer heads, installing stiffer springs and bolting them on for a noticeable difference... and just about all of what I read are using the stock 1.6 rocker arms.
I am not one to cheap out on something but are roller rockers worth the extra $?
I am guessing most will reply with its worth the peace of mind knowing things are moving smoother.
All stangbanger opinions / real world experience / comments are appreciated.
Not trying to hijack the thread but wanted to jump in since its GT40P related.
Thanks in advance!

They are a needed improvement item, It frees up valve train stress caused by the stock rockers. You don't see the big boys running a stock set of rockers, there's a reason.

Not trying to be a "big boy", just trying to build something that runs well and is street friendly. After getting many opinions on other sites from guys running P heads I have come to conclusion that at my power level roller rockers are just an added expense. I will be bolting down the factory rockers and moving on. Many have done this time and time again and many have run in the 12s with the factory rocker arms.
However, I do appreciate opinions and advice.. Thank you!

It's always something you can switch down the road somewhat easily. You need pedestals mount or stud?

Not trying to insult or criticize you, just saying that they do serve a purpose as per your question above. You can most surely use stock rockers as well but there are benefits you get with roller rockers that you can not with stock rockers. If you decide to go with a set, check out the valvetrain/heads sales threads, there are usually a set for sell in there.

I know you werent and like I said before.. I value everyones opinion, experience, etc.. Thats what this site is all about, people with the same passion sharing knowledge and experiences. I simply think at my power level they arent necessary. I do understand what they do and how they work. Its one of those questions "how much bang for your buck?". I dont think I would notice any difference whatsoever for my $200.
