when i drive the car to work about half way there it will act like i shut the key off for a second then goes back to normal. the other thing it does is when i come to a stop with the clutch in it will idle at 1200-1500 rpms but if i flick the throttle most times it will idle back to the 900-1000 rpms like it always has

Steves LX had a boatload of issues once, he might be able to chime in, if his issues were similar or not

also the other day i was coming out of hillsboro going down a hill so i had my foot of the gas and it started to backfire out of the exhaust so i pushed the clutch in and it died. i tried to start it back up with out shuting the key off since i was still moving and wouldnt start unless i had it on the floor. It was just pouring the fuel to it so i shut the key off then tried to start it and it fired up and ran like it never happened.

Is the cable near your msd box?

Remove the cable and see what happens. The selector switch is great for picking up RF noise, and an MSD is great for creating it.

the msd box is up in the front of the engine bay on the driver side. i unhooked the msd box and it seemed to run fine on the way home except the high idle but then again it hasent ever done it on the way home just on the way to work so ill find out in the morning. if it continues to do it i will unhook the cable.

i am pretty sure the cable or switch is whats making my car miss. then i pulled the upper intake off and it looks like the plenum gaskets were leaking so i will be putting it back together after work to figure out if that is my high idle problem.

Mine started to do this here recently, but my MSD box is in close proximity to my SCT cable. I have not disconnected it yet to test if this is the problem, but Im sure it has some thing to do with it. And Im pretty sure Adam will yell at me too.lol:bigthumb

Thats what was wrong with my car. Cable too close to the MSD. Took the cable off and it defaulted to tune # 1 and drove fine. Rerouted the cable and plugged it back in and it was good to go.

ok finally got some time to work on the coupe tonight it will run fine if i unhook the chip cable and switch but still idles high. i have two cables and two switches and i guess both are bad? , cant figure that part out

three different chip switches, msd hooked up or not car still shuts itself off but its only with a switch pluged in. it wont do it if the switch is unplugged any other ideas?

Probably have 2 bad switches or some sort of interference that they are picking up. The idling high may be a seperate issue all together. If you want bring your chip down and I will reburn it just to rule it out.

fixed the idle, the shaft that holds the butterfly is cracked which wasnt letting it close right. still getting the shut off issue.
