Found out today my neighbor has security cameras aimed out his windows that are monitoring my entire front and back yard. By the angle they are placed they positioned they are not in anyway viewing his property but specifically targeting my property. And yes he is a pinhead that the other adjacent neighbors have also had their fill with.

I called the local joke of a PD and they stated that unless his cameras were looking straight into my windows there was nothing we could do. But then he went on. "You could get a lawyer and he could probably do something about it." Now correct my thinking folks but if a lawyer can do something about it, then there must be a law against using cameras to lurk about someone elses property right? I these two cameras are on 45degree angles straight into my front yard and looking on a 45 degree plane straght down into my backyard. Hell my wife sunbathes out back in the summer. So much for privacy.

Has anyone in Ohio had to deal with this or is this pervert within his rights as long as he does not post the link on line or sell it? Should I contact the county prosecutors office? Should I spend the money on a lawyer? The two houses are ten feet apart. Our windows are directly in line with each other. Of course both windows are my bedrooms. One quick turn of the camera and he is looking into my house. Sure could use some advise here.

Put up 1 section of fence only that ison the property line and blocks his cams, then when people ask why you have only 6 foot of fence you get to tell them loudly about your ahole neighbors

If they were outside I would. Unfortunately they are located within his house looking out the wondows.

I am going to do that. Will require about a 10 ft fence section 6-8 ft wide in the back. The bigger concern is the windows his cameras are viewing through are directly across from mine.

Therein lies the problem. This guy has been a menace to the area for years with his ongoing never finished fences and exterior of his house (it was in tivek for over 10 years seriously). We his neighbors finally had our fill of promises to finish and contacted the city zoning official who got on the ball (finally) and paid a visit to the guy (who is a Ind. contractor BTW) and fined him for being noncompliant in finishing these issues. They were resolved and that is when the piss-poor-spoiled-brat-baby-ass attitude started.

So approaching him at this point is worthless as it always was.

To give you a better taste of this klondike, the neighbors behind us hired this guy to paint their office. He was paid up front, came over, started the work and never retruned to finish (this was before all the crap started). Add to that, he installed on the same house a rear flood light (with sensor) for hte lady prior to these owners. Now he complains years later that they are shining in his bedroom window and he has actually gotten up and spot lighted their house with one of those contractor lamps on several occassions. I told the owner today he needs to call the local PD and report a prowler or intrusion of a peeping tom the next time.

Amazing what you have to put up with in people. The guy is a joke. He got the house from his gma who passed shortly after we bought hte place in 1996. It has been in disarray ever since.

As stated unfortunately the cameras are inside his house mounted so they view out of the window and are unaccessable with one. I sure wish I had one of those electronic surveilance zappers like the guy in that Rainbow six game had that could zap out cameras and electronics.

As far as moving, not going to let the jerk win that easily. We have kicked around a relocating prior to this but have changed our minds. Both our parents are very near or well over 70. They will likely be needing assistance in the next 10 years or so.

Man we think alike. I thought about painting a big sign that says something to the effect of "HEY PRICK I KNOW YOU ARE A VOYERING PERVERTED FAGGOT JUST WANTED YOU TO KNOW I AS WELL AS THE LOCAL PD AS WATCHING YOU".

The guy shakes hands like a fowl fish. It creeped me out the first time (and only time) I ever shook his hand. You know the type, real limp wristing with the light touch...Only woman I ever see there is his sister.

Na, gonna fight fire with fire. Buying mirrored window film tomorrow. Also buying my own camera system and will be monitoring his movements. Once setup i will be able to prove he is throwing the chicken bones over into our yard. Yeah thats what has me as pissed as anything. If the dog gets hold of those he could choke on them. We have to scour the yard several times a day to find them. Don't know what this turd's problem is, but if I prove he or his buds are doing this, it will be war with the courts and the Humane Society. So we will get through this all well, rise above it, fight fire with fire, catch him at his stupid overconfident self and bust his ass outright. Will likely need to ge tthe county involved since the local cops are only good for eating doughnuts and leaching tax dollars IMO from seeing them reach new lows in laziness.

I have photos of his cameras on my camera. Sure he knows it by now. Hopefully he is more scared than stupid when he sees photos of me snapping pics and using bonocs to find them on his house. Of course my argument will be "I saw a hawk on your roof top and while looking at it I saw the camers pointing into my yard you voyer fag pervert." I tried to takea photo of it and seesm I dropped the camera and it took a pic of your CCD device aimed into my front yard as well.

Any chance anyone on here is on Anjie's list? I'd like to know his rating on there. We don't subscribe. If you read this and do I would appreciate a PM and I will send you his name to search on there. It can't be above a B. Thanks. If not I will get a 30 days subscribe myself.

Watch out for the mirror film sold at HD and lowes. It only looks like a mirror from certain angles. Also none of them are a 1 way film. Like you can see out but not in.

This guys probably got loads of cassette tapes stuffed in his closet of videos he took..... better watch where you tinkle in the house... better not be in front of the window!

Too bad you couldn't "accidentally" snip the electrical wires going to his box outside the house. That would be inconvenient.

Paintball marker. Use some expensive tourny paint that is extremely thick and doesnt like to run. Every time he cleans the outside window, just do it all over again. Maybe he will get the hint. If need be,I can get both items listed above.

Big concern is how close his angle is to looking in my bedroom window on that aspect. As suggested I am going to mirror tint them on that side of the house to prevent intrusion of privacy. Thanks again and thanks for the pointers last Saturday. Been sitting in the back yard this morning messing around with manual settings. I just need to verify the source of the chicken bones before they kill Shelby should he get hold of one. Will be setting up my own security system. If you can't beat em join em and beat em at their own game. May well build that 16 ft tall X 6ft section of fence as well or start putting signs of freespeech in the yard that will be visible by the cameras. Would be funny to have them up while he has guests over there for a party. "Warning: you may be dining with a voyeur creep".

They also make a crinkly type window film that we used on our front door. Our neighbors are also the biggest douchbags. We used the tinted film as the base on the inside, then on top of the tint we put the crinkly crap. I would be able to see if some one was on my porch, but I sure as hell couldnt tell who. Besides,no one comes over with out telling me or else I carry my friend to the door with me, And its not the dog.

'Fraid that might turn him on. He is single (never married), over 50 and we never see anyone but what appears to be his sister there on rare occasion. He seems to have what could appear to be "regular friends" for a while and then they disappear. Its usually only 1 or 2 at a time.

Funny you mention that. He installed a sensor flood light on a neighbors house behind us years back for a diffeerent owner. It was there for years and was adjusted to the boundary of the yard so she could see her dog at night and was never touched by anyone other than maybe a bulb replacement. New neighbors bought the place. They have gotten fed up with him as well. Started contacting the city and the zoning people on him for failure to comply. Talking to him never got you anywhere except lip service and excuses. Recently he started shining bright spot lights in their windows because of the very flood lights he installed. They are only on when the dog is out for about 15 minutes each night or when they are grilling out back. Tell me he isn't whacko! They are filing charges of peeping tomt, invasion of privacy, disturbing the peace, and menacing the next time he does it. Their son is a cop.

OK let me restate it, yes they will take your equipment (film or will delete your memory depending on camera). You will just be detained at the police or sheriff's office till they get the warrant (depends on what pictures you have also). And there is more than just advertising that requires a release. When you go to public places, example, kings island, in the release you sign allows them to use your picture for anything. Just the general public doesn't realize you have to either be paid or sign a release for pictures.

Here's a question no one has asked you Chad...you mention a wife. You don't have children I assume? A big case for suspected pedophilia could land him as a sex offender if you or your neighbors with kids lodged enough complaints and they had enough to do a search. If he is as odd as you state...all they have to do is find some kiddie porn, plus the added fact that he has cams aimed in all your windows...just a thought.

Of course, if he has cameras on all sides of his house, that makes it easy to claim it's for security, not perversion. That's Kev's input.

If so, You probably have a pretty damn solid leg to stand on if he keeps tapes. Child Pornography/Exploitation is serious shit.

Wait, looks like BigRed beat me too it.

No Chillins! Maybe I could rent a couple! LOL!

I think MADMOD has it right. I can take anyone's photo I want, as long as they are in a public place (including someone's own backyard, etc..) as long as it is in plain sight. I don't need a release, unless I plan to sell them, or use them in advertisements. I believe the courts have even held in favor of video taping police, in some cases.

Chad, I hope you can get this resolved!

Just gonna fight fire with fire. Looking into a whopper of a system. Neighbor behind me is going in on one as well. Going to see some privacy solutions tonight at a SBZ members house that he has proven to work well and will implement those also. May even build a 12ft tall privacy fence that will completely block that camera's path of view into the back yard. THanks for eveything guys.

Thanks Dedpedal for the help and thanks for the advise and pointers. Let me know if I can ever return the favor. Had a blast talking with you as well.

Now that Kev told me you were in Mirimar same time frame I was at 32nd St...we shall have to chat. You'll have to come down to Dickmanns one night or out to the house for a beer and grill out.

Wish I could make Dickmans some Wednesday night but I work that crazy 2nd shift. Maybe we can all meet up at fillmores some time on a Sunday afternoon? Would love to reminisce.

You could borrow my nephew. Just don't try to bring him back in the middle of the night. You borrow him, he's yours' the entire week. :P

That's doable! In Cumberland this weekend, but then after that as long as I don't work.
