New to the forum, trying to determine whether to build an 0.030 289 or to go with a 331 Stroker. I want to use a 289 block and stock appearing heads. I have a couple of cylinder head options 289, 302, 351, and want to go with 1.94 / 1.60 valves, Comp Cams 280 Magnum, and 10.5:1 compression. I lean toward the 352w heads (C9 casting). My concern is that the short bore length of the 289 block is potential trouble, but with the longer rod, I'd expect that to be minimized. Looking for advice and a good Machinist, not my first engine build, just my first Ford.

I say hands down for the cubic inches of the 331, run a set of GT40 or Gt40P heads if you want a stock appearing head.
Depending where you leave may be a deciding factor of a machine shop, where are you?
