Has anyone here used products like MeGuiar's Wraptivo? Here is a link: http://www.wraptivo.com/
I've seen the ads for it twice now in Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords and I'm tempted to get a small roll of the black carbon fiber to detail interior pieces, dash trim and maybe, if I like it and its as simple as the videos show, even the entire hood.
Problem is I can't find it locally and I sort of would like to see it in person to determine if I like it before paying.
Thoughts?

Well...no one had any feedback so I found some cheap on Amazon and am giving it a shot. Decided to try it on something else before working on any interior trim pieces. I think the stuff if better than I anticipated.

Since it seems simple to do I guess its going on a few interior things next. Wish me luck. :D

Good luck! Carbon fiber ain't my bag, but that looks nice and clean. Is it self adhesive?

It is however they recommend you hit it with a heat gun/hair dryer to help set it once you have the part covered to your liking. The retail stuff also comes in wood grains and metallic finishes. I dont plan to go too crazy with the stuff. My original plan was to carbon wrap the shifter bezzle and possibly the silver plastic spokes of the stearing wheel.

Switched over to applying it to interior trim. Here's the completed trim pieces.

And then.... I decided to change the black out panel between my tails. I see other S197 with black out panels all the time. Decided I'd like to be a little different:

Thanks!

Posting rules at the bottom of the page says I can edit my posts however for the life of me I can't find how to do that. So... lets try posting the images again.

Do u have any idea how well it stays stuck, I've seen some of the cheap stuff and it doesn't stay on very long

Slow86fiveoh - No, not yet. I have high hopes as their website and facebook page show it primarily being used on exteriors. What I'm really curious to see is if it stays on when the temps here drop around the freezing mark. My car doesn't normally get the extreme cold temps though. Its in a garage both at home and while at work.

I know what u mean usually extremely cold temps will cause the adhesive to let loose but if it was designed with the outdoors in mind then it should hold up quite well. Do u have to use something to strip the oils from interior pieces before its applied, I might have to look into this stuff if it works out for u.

I followed the recommendations in their Youtube videos and wiped everything down really well with Isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol and allowed it to dry. Because I worry about things like that too I also made sure to wash my hands right before taking the backing off as I wanted to minimize the oil from my skin.

That's cool I've never really read into anything about it but it seems like a neat way to spruce up ur ride

Exactly... and that's all I wanted was to make a few minor cosmetic changes. My flat silver stearing wheel trim had odd little scratches and marks that bugged me, and rather pay out the wazoo for new OEM replacements, or risk making it look worse trying to sand them and repaint them... which can still be scratched, I thought I would try this. So far I'm really pleased with it.

How much did it cost you. Carbon fiber Shelby stripes would've cool.

Well I did not pay what Meguiars is asking for it. I originally wanted black, however the large accessory pack was on Amazon for $79.99 and my eye quickly locked on to the grey at only $15.00. I just checked now and I found gray for $35.00. Keep watching for deals.

That looks amazing for what is essentially a decal.

That looks great! They sell it at pepboys up here in dayton I was shocked.
Id like to wrap my lightning matte black but afraid I'll screw it up and waste $300 on wrap. LOL

Is the carbon fiber look stuff foil based?

Not from what I can tell Dave no. I have some left over... I can cut you off a little section if you want to check it out.

Send me a piece, I'll see if my supplier can get a big roll of it to divy up. I have a roll that is a silver vinyl foil base (like the chrome). Just wondering if it is the same stuff or not. If you need the basic sign vinyl type colors, I have scraps of that!

You got it!! I have the address written down in my wallet and I'll get a piece off to you.

Thanks for the sample! I checked with my supplier(s) - that shit is expensive (its textured and thicker than normal wrap type material). I can get the 3M stuff for about 15% off, but I have to buy a decent size roll.
I have some of a different variety, its a "carbon fiber look" printed on a foil backing (looks pretty darn good). If you want me to send you a sample to play around with, let me know. (Its a WHOLER lot cheaper!)

Yeah it’s the 'thicker' that really stops it from being a good option when working with tight bends and angles. They warn in their YouTube videos not to use it for 'aggressively contoured’ curves.
The foil backed wrap material... is it black or? I originally wanted black for my interior and still am considering changing it to black from the gray.

It is black carbon fiber look. It is printed on a thin plastic chrome foil.
I'll send you a couple chunks to play with. It definately goes around tighter corners and the adhesive is much better, however it is not going to stretch quite like a wrap material.

Sounds good and thank you. I appreciate your feedback and will let you know my thoughts on the samples.
