View Full Version : Project Pancake - 93 GT Hatch

So I am starting another one. The vert was just too troublesome and I should have listened to some people. I have a good fresh motor with alot of awesome parts to switch over to the new hatch.

It is project pancake because my dad says I keep flipping and flopping and can't make up my mind.

The goal is to get as light and fast as possible. I am completely gutting the car now and then taking it to my buddies barn for welding up every single hole and smoothing out the engine bay. Some Scott Rod panels will be utilized. I am thinking of the POR-15 coatings for engine bay and underside. All the GT parts are coming off and getting LX bumpers (I know I know). As many wires as possible will be hidden in the fenders, everything re-wired to an ARC panel.

I'll leave it at that for now, probably won't get to welding until October.

Here are some pics to hold ya'll over...

Good reason to hack the clip off the vert! That could happen!

jktruckin06
08-28-2012, 06:01 AM
And why are you stripping it?

It's easier than losing my belly... just cause it is going to be carbed and simply wired. No extras

Welp, really no more progress, just parts collecting. About to get started on the body work. Scott Rod engine bay panels, dzus fasteners for the harwood hood (thanks ray) and hatch.

Here's the hatch I just got today in Trotwood, hell of a deal I think...

I didn't do mine yet we did Brians (95civic2005) I welded spot welds every 1/4", thats what scottrod told us to do. When I do mine though I gonna drill holes around outer perimeter and plug weld, I think that may make finishing easier.

Made some killer progress in the past couple weekends. Sub frame connectors done, just built the frame that is holding my fuel cell and battery. Mounted up my fuel filter and pump and welded in the donathen rear support.

Next weekend will be buttoning up some body work and getting the car back to mason for brakes and motor.

Pics are on the phone and will post up soon.

jktruckin06
03-14-2013, 08:29 PM
Progress or something. This thing will definitely not be a show car. Panels aren't lining up lol. Probably won't be fast either.

I scrapped the vert. I had this one for sale and changed my mind, put sold to screw with people lol. I am very impatient and easily discouraged, so this thing is trying me!
