Ill be switching my car over to EFI soon and Im curious as to which EFI systems people are using and ease of tuning. Big Stuff 3, Fast XFI, or Holley? Who has experience with what?
Ill still be running the 427 but the Precision 101 will be going on. Im still unsure of air/air or air/water because I want to be able to drive it on the street. Also turbo mounting... Front mount or will I have enough room to mount it off to the passenger side? Cooling will be affected if I use the front mount as well as the air/air intercooler.
Also as far as intake, injectors, tb, and so on? Im thinking the Super Victor fuel injected intake 29245 with an elbow and maybe a 105mm TB.
What to do??? Help me out so I can start ordering parts!

I'm glad you're keeping the car and going turbo/efi, Brian.... I think you will have soo much more fun with it now!

It should be a blast! Now to get it started on! Id love to be able to drive it around on around 10 psi and still make unreal power!

There's a guy on here selling an accel dfi setup for a real reasonable price I would think it would be a quality setup, my buddy runs big stuff3 and I have another friend with the fast xfi its all complicated when it comes to tuning if u don't know what ur doing but the install is pretty strait forward

My buddy with the big stuff runs a 331 tt setup that puts down close to 1000hp on27psi and drives it all the time on the street, he runs a tfs r series efi intake, 90mm tb, not sure of injector size off hand.

Just an Aircraft Mechanic! Well heavy maintenance production supervisor. It's not bad work but not a lot of jobs available anymore.

My buddy is running Fast XFI and it don't look to bad from what I've seen. I just have heard a lot of good stuff lately about the new Holley Dominator stuff.

you can run on the street with an air to water. just need a heat exchanger like the terminators have

Why not just run a air to air if ur only running 10psi for what the setup seems to be I think it would be sufficient

Well if I want to step it up I dont want to have to swap out parts. Im sure Ill want to crank it up at some point. Maybe 20-24 psi. Or until it starts breaking shit!

dfi, holley, BS2, Fast all have some positives and negatives. They are all speed density systems and tuning them is similar. Go with what ever your tuner is comfortable with.

Run the Holley system distributorless. Boost control and timing retard over time are built in and will be available to the consumer fairly soon.

Yeah that's the one I'm leaning towards. I hear it should have all the bells and whistles soon.

Like Adam said the Holley system seems to be the cat's meow these days. I know if I run in to any RPM issues with my project and the factory ECU I will be going that route.

Get a BS3, 7531, AMS 1000 with co2 and PT3000 a/w and don't look back. We run that on our x275 car and been 4.80's all day. -Bill
--Let me know what you are doing with your carb hat and charge pipe. I am interested. Congrats on keeping the car. You can make an easy 3g on the blower setup with the carb.

I already sold all my blower stuff except for the carb and intake and distributor.
But as far as the PT3000 how does the air/water do on the street? Thats my biggest concern. Im not really wanting an all out race car. Takes all the fun out of it!

Holley hands down, especially for a street car. Give them time to get all the extras working and available. jmho.

I sold my ams-1000, 7531, race pak, and DFI to switch to a Holley. I'm beta testing the new software with all of the bells and whistles. It is awesome to have all of your control in one program and not have interference issues between them. It is truely superior to all of the engine managements that you listed. It is very finiky with certain crank and cam inputs so make sure you talk to someone making big power with one before you buy random shit. I tune a lot of BS3,FAST,and Gen7 DFI systems and they work great, but IMHO they have been trumped. I agree with the pt-3000 and co2. It will be fine on the street as long as you don't beat its brains in. If this is your plan put a heat exchanger on the front. Make sure you have a big enough water pump for the cooler or you will loose the efficiency of the bigger intercooler. I run the radiator mount mezier 50gph piece and it works great. I'll be at KK for the XOS and SLT races if you want to check it out this weekend. I'm running the Dominator EFI, distributor-less, LCD touch screen, with co2 based boost control on a SBF, A2W, w/ twin 88s. My car is street-able as shit, I just don't want to pay for the fuel:lol:

Cool Ill be sure to look you up! I seen you there at the last race but was busy helping a buddy with his car in 8.5. Sounds like what I need to do! I havent heard nothing bad about the Holley stuff yet so thats the route Ill most likely take.

I also hear the holley is the shit, some of the big power guys are having issues with ICT and switching back to the 7531 till the crank input issues/box resets are worked out. Like Adam said, having everything in one box makes everything soooo much nicer

What are your thoughts on the boost controller?

At this point the set up is too complicated for the end user. That is being worked out currently. However after set up it is a bad bad bitch. I would choose it over an AMS in a heartbeat

No I personally have not. From what I hear it works very well tho.
