First off i want to thank Mike Bell for Everything he did on this build
Everyone knows my car, Last year it was a 349 w/9.5:1 compression FoxLake stage 2 heads, Rbox, stage 3 TF CAM made 430hp at the wheels on motor, 600 or so hp on Spray. With a 373 gear the car ran a 10.78 on motor. I had tons of issues with the nitrous not working right and got tired of it. So i made a new combo: I wanted a high compression high RPM motor so i got with Mike Bell @ Dayton Performance and sat down to discuss pros and Cons on that motor on the street. After the build was planed out i tore my car down :(
First i striped everything of the car and the block, sent the block to the machine shop and bought mikes Prob Dominator kit. I went with 13:1 Dome Top pistons and we assembled the bottom end. Now i want to make something clear. I love doing this stuff. I went to Sinclair's Auto program and finished it last year including the HP classes. I wanted to build my motor. But there is no way i could have with out Mike. Every time i turned around Mike had a pointer, or a better way ect. So in short i ended up Helping Mike build my short block instead lol. This guy is a mad scientist with a motor. Mike finished up the Short block and we added the CAM. Now the Cam is a Solid Roller with a 106 LSA 254 .050 I620/26, 262 .050 B620
I was torn on the head combo because Mike wanted to build them yet I was currently in the HP head class at Sinclair and i wanted to build them also lol. So i bought a set of Bare castings off yellow bullet from guy and they flowed 290 CFM on Sinclairs Bench, i smoothed the exhaust ports and left the CNC ports in the intake but opened them up to a 205 intake valve and did a radius valve job, both heads now flow just at 320 CFM. I used Ferra stainless valves and titanuim retainers and locks. Set the spring pressure at 200lbs closed. And decked the heads to put me at 12.58:1 Compression. Added a rocker arm girdle and installed the heads, I kept the R intake against Mike Bells wishes of a Spyder Or Victor intake. I still might change this! And went with a set of Kooks 1 7/8 x 3in long tube headers x pipe and bullets. Went to a 60lb injector and a Digital MSD7 ....
Mike and I assembled the motor and dropped her in the car. After a whole day on the dyno: Last Saturday at 1600ft sea level the car made 508hp@6800 but the car makes over 400hp @3800 and stays above 500 past 7400rpm On E-85. I plan to add a 4:30 gear and keep the 26X10 Slicks and hope she runs a 9.6-9.8ET.....
This winter i may plan to play with a Victor intake also :)
