All I need from two previous employers is some documentation (basically a letter on company letterhead) verifying that I ran X machines while employed with them. Things are gonna be a little shakey at work, and transfering from welding to general machining will probably keep me in the door over the next few months.

Figures, bought the wife a new SUV, she might be pregnant... and I could be laid off in 30 days for up to 6 months. Guess it's a good thing I passed on that '11 5.0, huh?

Any company should have no issue verifying the dates or that you worked there. In fact I think they amay be obligated to provide that per your request. Just do not know ifthey have a deadline or not.

You may wish to inquire through the unemployment office on what former companies are required to provide.

Hope things for you hold out. Been the laid off twice in my life. The first time was one year after buying our house. Stay optimistic. You'll be fine. SOunds like you have a ton of experience and skills at your disposal.

Most smart companies these days will only verify dates of employment. The reason is that they are tired of getting their asses sued every other day by previous employees.

One says "we don't even have record of you ever working here"

I'd make a physical appearance (assuming you did not and it is close to you) if I knew the boss I worked for was still there. He should be able to verify this and may be able to help get it resolved. As well if they paid their unemployment money on you, there should be a record of working this on file with the unemployment office. Check with them when you get a chance. Then take that to HR and show them. Good luck.

I live about an hour away from each place. Neither of them have my personnel files anymore, so the pooch is screwed. 11/09 is the tentative last day, callback of 1/07/13 IF I have enough seniority to displace anyone outside of my division (we're union).

And a pleasent "FUCK YOU" goes out to "Crazy Uncle" Joe Biden... if he would do his homework he would know that we are not in the business of making new from scratch M1Ax tanks. We bring in the old hulls and turrets, fix, modify and upgrade everything to 0 miles for a substantial savings vs new. With said program, along with the Stryker DVH retrofit program dwindling to a halt due to present contracts being tabled durring the campaign season is what is putting me on the street.

Must be BAE Systems

Blame congress for not passing a budget. I have seen many upgrade programs go on hold due to an uncertain future military budget and possible spending cuts that will be applied across the board if a budget isn't passed soon.

General Dynamics Land Systems. BAE is the Bradley. But congress is also to blame. Biden an Obama have both said they want to close the only one stop tank shop in America, which is also an Army GOCO base.
