I wanted to put a gasket in the exhaust manifold on the 68. What is the best way of doing this. Do I grind the heads off to get the manifold out of the way after I tried to get them off. What do you guys think. They are rusted

do you have any deep creep, penetrating oil

I put some on it. Somebody had tried before and broke off 2. I just broke off one but at the top so I can hopefully get the stud out. That was with a 3/8 sockett. The reason I said grind the head off was then I could get to the threaded part. I used kroil oil

if they are breaking more than likely most will....
go ahead and take them off ( heat or oil)
once the manifold is removed you will have to carefully heat where the stud goes into the head.. then use a stud puller or vice grips to gently work them out.

That was my thinking. Take the heads off the bolts and then work on getting the rest of the bolt out with heat and oil. Somebody have a better idea.

Small mig welder. Remove the manifold and try to leave as much stud above the manifold deck as possible. Weld a nut to the stud @ the highest amperage setting and lowest wire speed. Heat the head where the stud enters it at with a cutting torch or a hand held torch. Use the nut to remove the stud. I have to do this at least once a week and it works 95% of the time. I'm cussing drill bits the other 5%. Good luck.
