I have a noise coming from the rear end when I shift like a clunking or banging sound. So I thought I would jack it up and check. The aftermarket upper and lowers checked out fine. The torque boxes are ok. U joints have no move ment. The issue i see is I can turn the drive shaft by hand and move it 5 to 10 degrees before it engages and moves the wheels. I can also move the pinion in and out alittle. Im thinking that the backlash needs to be reset or the pinion bearing is going bad and letting it move in and out. What do you think?

You think I could just tighten it and it would fix the problem?

I have parked the car for the winter. Will rebuild the rear end and install the 373 gears.
