I need some opinions on what clutch I should run, this is a DD in the summer months, im running a stock t5 for now but I need a clutch that will hold up to some passes on drag radials but easy to drive. The engine should make just shy of 400 flywheel hp

Centerforce "Dual Friction". Great grip, light pedal.

I have heard everyone swearing by them but my best friend wiped the material off the face of two of their disks with a near stock car about 6 years ago so I am hesitant to run them

I've ran the Centerforce DF in many of my cars and never had a problem with them.

I went 10.80's with one, I know a lot of people that have used them with good results. There are other good clutches, but IMO, the CF DF has the best combo of hold vs pedal pressure for a street car.

Definately!!! My dual friction went 11.0's@130 numerous times before I smoked it. If you go too aggressive on the clutch you will likely shorten the life of that T5.

Don't get to aggressive with a clutch, I did and broke trans in a few passes I had good luck with a super king cobra from promotion

King cobra has a horrible pedal pressure, I've also had good luck with the CF dual friction.

I think a center force df will be too harsh on the tranny myself so I might try out the super king cobra or spec i show it no mercy and need to slip it off the line, thanks for all the input everyone is giving

I have a spec3 in my 04 cobra. Light pedal and holds awesome. My car is daily driven with a few hard pulls here and there. Most of which are highway pulls. But it has a few trips down the track on it. Ive had it in for about a year and a half about 20,000 miles on it.

running spec here to 700hp and near 800 tourque, but with that on a t-5 you will break shit. input shaft from no give, id go with a stage 2 spec had that on a few full bolton cobras and loved it. the pedal feels like stock with the spec clutches. i have ran df and hated them stiff pedal and never held, thats just my 2 cents, everyone is diffrent.....

I think I'm gonna go with a spec 2 or the super king cobra from pro motion to put a little less stress on the tranny

Im not sure about the spec2 but when I ordered my clutch it had a light pedal option.

I have blown apart several center force df clutch disc . I do like the pressure plates but I would get a spec stage 1 disc to use with it . If you look at a df disc the organic side does not have a metal backing attached to it , it's just riveted to the marcels , where the spec and a few other brand organic disc have a metal backing attached to the organic side and then riveted . Those hold up a lot better than the center force df disc .

I have had good luck with both the CFdual F and spec, I had a King Cobra and pedal effort was twice as hard as the others. They all performed well.

ACT is the only way to go. I have abused them for 5 years now and not had one problem from the clutch. Also great guys to deal with. :bigthumb

I liked the Centeforce DF in my 02. A little heavier that stock but not bad. Ran an Exedy Mach 500 in redfirepearl (463 RWT). They make a fantastic steel flywheel as well. The pedal on the Exedy setup was just slightly heavier than stock. Find a clutch that is capable of handling the torque thrown at it. Most rate their clutchs on max torque load nad not HP.

Just a reminder that a cable clutch will be stiffer than the same clutch in a hydraulic set up.
