i have a friend with a 1986 mustang and the cowel pannel below the windshield wass messed up beond repair from the hood flying up several times. so he cut it out starting at the pinch weld in the engine bay and removed it to about 2 inches from the windshield. anyway the prooblem is he can not find a new one does anyone make one or do we have to take off of another car and should we remove it all the way into the car? i know the top of the das mounts to this piece and it is critical it is done right any help is appreciated. sorry about the spellling i am on my cell and it is early lol

Gonna have to cut one off another car. My buddy has one.
Do it right and pull the windsheild out.

Needs the windsheild out to get to the spot welds under the glass. I would recommend pulling the dash back too so you don't get too much heat on it when you reweld it. I could ask my friend what he wants for it. Its not cut out of the section of the car, but the section of the car is cut out. If that makes sense. Try not to damage the mating areas on the car, you don't want to take any material away. You will need a 3/8 spot weld drill bit and a few other tools. I've got my replacement ready to go on but don't have my original off yet.
Don't have the time unfortunately to help but I can give all the pointers you need. You'll need something to "seal" it after the job is done, otherwise rain water will get into the engine bay all across the front!
