SSI increase kicked in and sucked more out of all of our paychecks this week REGARDLESS OF SOCIAL CLASS. Wondering what's next? Will the tax holiday expiration take even more?

My net pay is already down 3.1% on net pay. Can't wait to see what comes next.

Sorry had to vent when I saw my paystub.

I almost started a similar thread earlier.... I agree. Now its like I never even got my one raise that I got since I've been at my job for over 4 years.

I never understood why I need to pay taxes to give up my time and do something I would rather not do just to pay more taxes buying the things I need. Tax on used cars is something I never liked either. I already pay a crazy percent because I sell cars. My commission is taxed at @ 40%. I paid more taxes in 2012 that some gross in a year. Its organized crime by the government. Nothing we can do about it though so I stick it to them whenever I can.

It makes it hard on everyone, I think even more so mentally knowing that what we work so hard for is taken.

Yea it was nice to open my check and see that it was lighter. Nothing like giving the govt almost an hour of my time a week.

But Obama promised no tax increases on those making less than $250,000. I saw that my taxes increased so I can only assume that I got a huge raise and nobody told me about it at work. I immediately looked for my gross pay and it comes nowhere close to being over $250,000 over the course of a year. Since Obama promised no new taxes I can only assume that my employer must have forgotten several zero's at the end of my gross pay but went ahead and taxed me anyway for the higher rate. I'll call HR tomorrow and get everything sorted out.....

I am the furthest thing from an obama supporter or bigger government supporter but in all fairness the 2% was only a break from 2 years ago. They told us this when they gave it to us. Yes it blows but it is for ssi. Which will be around in some form forever.

got the surprise yesterday....-$37 net pay for the week. Looks like a great way to make the economy grow, give us less money to spend.

If anyones check is more than 2% higher you need to talk to the payroll administrator at your employer.
Mine went up 2% from the SS reduction that expired but nothing more. My wife does the payroll admin for a large company also, there are no new tax table deductions other than the 2%. Unless.... you make over $400K.

At least I get some satisfaction in knowing that those who voted for him are slowly realizing they got screwed. 4 years of nothing and they thought things would change? Wait until Obama Care gets into your wallet. Do people really believe that buisnesses won’t pass on the cost the Government places on them? You’re out of pocket Insurance premiums next year are going to reflect what they pay this year so get prepared.

The sad part is that the majority of Americans that voted Obama in are free loaders of the system and will not notice any of the tax increases from Obama Care or anything else he has created. Hell, they will get raises. Obama is proof that Americans are getting stupider. They are products of the liberal media and the liberal education system. I feel really bad for our children. I try my best to explain to mine how America was founded and that the constitution was the greatest document ever written. I can only hope that after Obama is finished with his destruction, that people will learn something from the 8 years of lies and getting the absolute opposite of everything he promised them. And that there will be enough of America left that we can rebuild it and get back on track and cut the government back to where it should be which is working for us. Not us working for them. WE THE PEOPLE!

Sorry, mine was a 2% increase. You are correct. Looked at the stub wrong when I compared the two.

Would feel better if I could manage my own SSI money in my own portfolio. A government bureaucrat has no accountability when dealing with the money of his faceless investors (we the tax payers and SSI contributors). As I see it now all I will have to show for in 2032 when I sign up for SSI will be 49+ years of SSI taken from my paychecks and paid by my employers in my name, and nothing left to show for it. Sorry JK I don't share your optimism on SSI being there in 2032.

Well I'm not optimistic of what or how much will be there. If I plan on getting anything it won't be til 2046 at the current age requirements. Just that something will be. I wish I could ad that 6.2% to the 15 I'm already socking away and my employer give me the other 6.2 as a pay raise! This is such a shitty issue.

I did say "In some form" lol. I would love to take control of my own retirement. I could add 6.2% to the 15 I already save and my employer could get a 6.2% break to either expand or give to me.

As I write this though I'm afraid nothing will change because the government will not depend on people to save for themselves. The responsible America will always pay for the irresponsible.

I got my first paycheck of the year today. OMG did I get it up the ass. I had 12hrs of over time on the check. I seen $80 of it in my pocket. They took almost 75% of it. After 6 yrs I finally got a 2% raise last month. I wont see any of that. Ill make less this year than I did last year. And I work for the damn government. They need to fix the wellfare system. I know alot of people on wellfare and most of them dont need it. They get it because they can. They can go out and get a job and support themselves there's nothing wrong with them. But the government is handing these people everything. I dont mind helping people out that need help but most of them dont need it. Ive had inmates that work for me that think wellfare is their job at 23yrs old. We need a serious wellfare reform.

I agree. They need to make it more painful to be on some type of handout, then to have a job. I don't know how to do it without hurting the people who really need the help.

I think I saw a survey they other day that said there are 11 states where more people are on some type of wellfare and disability than there are people with jobs.

Welfare in Hawaii is equal to making 17.50 an hour. The highest paid welfare states are, go figure, predominately democratic.

Welfare in Hawaii is equal to making 17.50 an hour. The highest paid welfare states are, go figure, predominately democratic.

Not defending any welfare recipients anywhere, but if you are a single parent in Hawaii on welfare you are hosed.

Population:
Ohio 11.5mil
Hawaii 1.3mil

Unemployment rate:
Ohio 6.8%
Hawaii 5.3%

Median home price 2012
Ohio 104k
Hawaii 422k

You do the math. if you think that you would be better off in Hawaii and on welfare, by all means go for it. Median home price sets the stage for apartment and condo rent. With that being said a 600/mo apt in cincy is not 600/mo in Hawaii. Again, not defending folks on welfare but these folks nationally live hand to mouth. Whatever money they get is spent immediately. Food, car payment, cell phone whatever. This monies can be chocked up as economic stimulus. Not like these people are stacking money up in their bank account...

Wasn't this thread originally about the increase in Social Security with holdings and NOT about welfare? Let us not allow others to think we don't know the difference between the two programs. Thanks.

That's my fault Chad sorry. I was pissed off about what the social security increase did to my pay. I went off about welfare. Working in Newport I see it every day and it pisses me off. I also see people taking full advantage of the social security system. I was trying to say that the government is quick to give our tax dollars away. It really gets to me that the sorry asses that can work don't and we have to pay for it. Sorry for getting the thread off track.

Not having a heart attack. Though there are others who do in situations like this.

Just didn't want to give anyone the chance to assume we thought Welfare and Social Security were one in the same. You know how some critics can be. Have a blast.
