Not trying to start anything, I dont know what the asking price was or anything. Why the quick sale? Seems like a real nice car.

What kind of power did it put out and how many lbs of boost???

Gearhead559
02-02-2013, 09:23 AM
like stated in the ad, the car is detuned to run scca rules, car makes 360 wheel. 6psi. our plan(was, may still be) to install a stock crank pulley to bring the boost back up, drop the rear gear down to 3.55 change the rear tires and a couple of other little things. to make the car more enjoyable on the street and to cruise.

My business partner bought the car cause honestly, byers didnt have a idea of what they had. and since we see where the value of this should be, we are reselling. plus the car is so stupid clean if it dont sell, oh well. it can be a rolling business card for our shop.

currently have one.

theres a thread here in the build section...

And I can see about half of that just sayn!!

considering those wheels new where 1600 each...and they still look new along with every other part on this car.
and its a stupid clean chassis. i bet i can get 20k from parting it out/returning it to stock and selling it as a stupid clean stock car.

I mean come on guys. we all know what this stuff goes for. this car has over 30k in parts tossed at it. i havent even posted all the adjustable suspension shit under the car.

There no doubt its a clean low mileage car with lots of goodies but 25k right now is hard for anyone to justify.

I do know . I sold a 42k mile 97 cobra with brand new paint 03 cobra swap built trans. 493 rwhp on pump plus a nitrous kit on it. 24k dollars in receipts jn a folder for 12k. And i bought it needing 3k in parts in labor for 6k

there are people out there, and to go out and buy a scca spec car, and then build it to this level..... im about to change the wheels and plastidip the whole car, and change a few other things and just roll it to car shows here and there. with a for sale sign hanging in it

The car is nice, the wheels and engine are nice. But you can get a turbo/twin screw Terminator for that kind of money. As I'm sure you know, a car is never an investment, especially modded. You might get 35% back on your mods if you sell the car as is. If you part it out you may be able to get 60% back.

Gearhead559
02-04-2013, 02:21 PM
thats funny you say that. i make money on modded cars all the time. just have to know how to wheel and deal.

Not saying you can't, but selling this car for 25k is just not plausible IMO.

Buying a car that was overpriced at a dealership for $18k then thinking you can sell it to enthusiasts for $25k is not a smart investment.

02-04-2013, 03:07 PM
I would say for 25K I would rather get a nice single turbo Terminator/ Vette/ abused GT500

Yea if thats what happened here then holy shit lol. I bought the car i described on page one for 6k bucks to flip not 18 lol

No matter what the parts are worth the body style comes into play and this is not a terminator. Would be much more realistic if it was. There is 7k in my fox motor alone and no one has 7k to pay for the whole car and it runs 10 seconds on all motor and low 9's on spray. Maybe he will run for pinks! If I had 25k it would be spent on a termi for sure though.

My feeler says 25k is overpriced. My 98 cobra vert was just as clean and made 600 rwhp and I let it go for much less than that.

You should know that you rarely ever recoup funds for mods - let alone make a profit on them - when it comes to selling cars.

Good luck with your sale, you're going to need it.

I still don't see were there is 25k worth of parts on this car? Stock motor and tranny, with a blower and detuned never makes sense to me. should have spent a little less on the wheels and built a short block and made some power.

All the vehicles and toys that i have arent worth what i have in them but i still seem to enjoy spending alot of money on them...i know i could never get my money back but i dont care too because im happy with what i have.my junk isnt for sale

Idk about 25K good friend of mine got a 99cobra with a mmr 5.0 motor and a p1sc procharger for 11k. car had 60,000 miles. I personally would only spend 25k on a terminator a Shelby or a New 5.0..... but hey best of luck and if you get 25k more power too you.

Yep, making your car go faster and look better is the opposite of an investment. I'm not sure what was paid for this car but even if they only paid half of what they are asking, the only way to recoupe that kind of money is to part it out. Unfortunately, you can't add up what the parts are worth, then expect to get that. I would be wealthy otherwise!

35% back on mods. hold that thought.

cause every one has a opinion... and you know what they say!

tokico adjustables all the way around
full upr up front
stop tech brake kit
hre 509 rs wheels (new just the wheels where 6600) then add tires
kenne bell 2.2
road racing oil pan
hell this thing could have a short block in it and a modded trans, its unknown at this point so im just going to say its stock. until i hear back from the original owner.
theres around 25-30k easy in mods to this car(go ahead and drop a 96-98 cobra off at a shop and have them do every thing to it, that this does. even if you got the car for a song your still going to spend more building that one then you would buying this one, weather any one sees it or not). the list goes on and on with this thing.

now, since the car books for 16k, and if i use the first quotes math of 35% of the mod value, that still put this car around 25k using the math from the above posts. but then all those posts have a issue with the price.

and the car is detuned, to meet rules for a scca class, as its already been stated. im sorry you cant seem to grasp that.i dont agree with it myself, but the owner set it up for what he was doing. and a set of 3.55s, a stock crank pulley and a belt and this thing has over 400wheel and can still go road race it and just drive it. which is a joy btw.
now its is high, yes. but no one sees the obo. id buy a turbo termy in a heart beat and part it out/ return it to stock aswell and make money in the process. which may be the route this car takes if i find a 96-98 cobra thats a canidate for a part out, or if i find the needed parts to return it to stock form. but hence also why its a feeler ad. i have people interested in the car as is, but its sure not on this site.
thats for all the input guys, youve all big a big help

Guys, your not factoring that he said he knows how to "wheel and deal".

If anyone pays that price it will be the day 2 idiots met.

Doesnt say much about a shop that wants to use a car someone else built as their "shop car".

People can make as long of a list of parts as they want and quote a silly percentage then say "see that crazy number that I just pulled out of my arse does make sense!" But the fact remains that number still smells like poop. It's just silly to say you couldn't have a shop build a similar car for this asking price. That is true of all our cars and just about if not all modified cars on the planet. I mean I could buy a pinto covered in vintage my little ponies and ask a crazy number justifying it by saying you can't build it for that. In other words the car itself has an intrinsic value and no matter how many my little ponies you bolt on it you aren't going to tripple it's value. But hey it's a free country!
