I went to my local gun store (Ohio Valley) today for the first time since around Christmas. I couldn't believe how little they had, the handgun selection wasn't too bad. However the area were they have anything related to assault weapons was stripped.

The thing that really shocked the hell out of me is that they were nearly cleaned out of ammo. They normally would have a pallet each of .223, 5.56, .308, .40, 9mm, .45 and several pallets of 12 ga. Today the only thing they left was a half pallet of Winchester 12ga, and about a half a pallet of PMC .45/.380. I snatched two boxes of .45 (1000).

Thier normal behind the counter ammo was pretty thin as well. There is definately a run on ammo plus the big government buy for domestic purposes the pickins look slim.

Our local gun store has a three box limit , much like walmart has done. He got a skid in 2 weeks ago and it was sold out in 4 days. I hope this eases up soon , i have a new ar15 i need to sight in.

The thing that has been hardest for me to find has been 9mm. It's even hard to find .22LR. The 5.56 and .223 was nearly impossible to get there for a while but it's coming around again. Hopefully that means that the other stuff will be coming back soon.

There is a "dude" in Columbus that has been trying to sell me 70,000 rounds of either 5.56 or .223 I can't remember which. I wasn't really interested till today cause I have plenty. Now that I'm interested I can't get ahold of the pecker head. If anones interested in part of it let me know.

I can't remember the price either, I was buying some silver off him and not really paying attention to anything else. I also have to check if there are any limits of what I'm allowed to buy/sell.

Man I just checked Midway USA and they have absolutely nothing in .223/5.56.

It's not too often I get to tell myself "damn that was a really smart move" but this ammo situation is one of them. Over the last decade I stock pilled thousands and thousands of rounds in most every caliber of gun that I own. None of it was hard to find. None of it was marked up to rediculos prices. Never had to wait in a line, run from store to store or have a limit on boxes I could buy. I even bought up a shit ton of primers and powder when it was plentiful incase I decided to get more into reloading than just for my 50AE. I hope ammo comes down and gets more available again though. With it being scarce it makes me not want to shoot up anything I have in case this gets worse.

I planned ahead alittle, but I don't have a shit ton. I keep about 5k of each round I shoot.

Almost all my guns are .45, 5.56/.223, .308 and 12 guage. I only have two or three guns that aren't in that group.

I bought it cheap and stacked it deep 15 years ago. Im still shooting 9mm with a 3.99 price tag and .223 with 2.99 them from relo. That and reloading i am a brass whore.

I'm still shooting ammo from when Cincinnati Sports went out of business.

Just sold some 12 gauge ass kickers for $5 a box.

Back then I would pick up a box or two each payday. At one point I had over 25k rounds, mostly .22LR as I bought two cases of Federal 575 count bulk paks from Wally World @ about $7.75 a box. Now you pay about that for 100 rounds of .22LR.

1000 rds PMC .45 = $400

What are the laws in Ohio for buying large quantities of ammo if any?

What law?

I've had UPS drop off 1500 rounds before from http://www.ammunitiontogo.com/index.php

I got an email from Midway USA today @ 8:50 notifying me that Berger match hybrid VLD's were back in stock, 10 box limit. I ordered 10 boxes, I told a buddy who ordered 10 boxes, both of us had ordered by 9:15. I checked their site @ 12:45 and they were sold out.

In this day and age, when you see something you want, jump on it, because it won't last.

Cool site, I've never seen it before.

I'm talking ALOT more ammo than that.
