Raised Catholic, when I started OSU my first major was Philosophy. Two years after graduating OSU I went to Otterbein (Methodist). In the 7 or 8 years of undergraduate school, I learned alot about Christianity that they aren't going to talk about in church.
Personally I never really liked going to church and still don't. I've always felt there shouldn't be a need for organized religion if "God" is omnipotent.
Besides the preists always freaked me out and still do. It's not natural for a man to suppress the strongest natural instinct we have. Freud said it right, all human actions are sexually motivated.
Im no where near a churchy kind of person. I have gone to the vineyard in tri county a few times and really enjoyed that. Being brought up catholic and being forced to go to church was a bad thing for me. But the series isnt a preachy one. More of a cross between 300 and passion of the christ. I also agree with the catholic view you have. They should be allowed to marry among other things.

hebrew 10:25 And let us not neglect our meeting together,as some people do,but incourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
hebrew 10:24 Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.. we have to fellowship together for this.
I dont like pushing stuff on people. But I feel that when you have the love of Christ in your heart theres nowhere you would rather be.But I feel being pushy can also drive people away sometimes it did me for along time. But when I was ready I knew it.The bible says plant the seed he will see that it grows.:bigthumb

awesome....
Watched this movie last night as well. I am perplexed though. Why is it in all these Bible movies actors are complelled to sound like British Intellects when the era recorded took place in the Med sea/middle east area of the world? Makes me laugh.

I need to watch this when I get home. Most anybody that knows me knows I am a Christian. I don't force people to hear the message. I try to befriend people and hopefully they see Christ working thru me. Organized religion is a bunch of mess and silliness, because people mess up what is perfect. I am no where near perfect, never will claim to be. I am the same at church, home, track, work. I chose my Savior and He loves me no matter how messed up I am. Glad to see other Bangerz of the faith.

One thing I noticed was how strongly the women spoke to the men. My impression of history gives me the thought that they would be beaten for speaking that way.

I am not a Christian so to speak because I do drink and have done my fair share of partying that I'm not proud of, but now I have a little girl and have pretty much quit drinking, I still drink on the weekends sometimes. I do cuss which I have noticed with my daughter around I really need to stop because she catches on quick. I drink and smoke that is the reason I dont call myself a "Christian", although my faith is very strong and I have accepted Jesus Christ as my lord and savior. I dont go to church because my opinion on church it is all about the money and the way you dress and certain stigmas I am not a fan of. I have noticed that when I was going to church if a new family would come in and not be dressed to the T with the kakies and shirt and tie they were very quickly judged by the comunity in the church. I don't like that at all. If you are going to church you are going for the message of god and to worship not be looked at and talked about behind your back, maybe because you didnt dress super nice, or you have a tatoo it seems you are quickly judged. In my opinion I can worship at home and pray at home where I dont have to be judged and pay the preacher to read me the message that I can get from reading the bible myself. I think that orginized religion is getting out of control and it isnt about the message and worship but more of the money and the clicks. I realize not all churches are like this but sadly I have went to quite a few churches around me and it seems to be coming more common. To get back on track the show is very intresting and maybe makes you see things a little differant when you are getting a visual immage of it rathr than reading. Sorry guys rant over.

I wish there were more churches that people felt comfortable going to because I hear so many people that quit going because of politics or someone there made them mad . Personally I think its about going to Gods house to visit and not worrying about who else comes . Our church welcomes anyone , we have lots of people that wear blue jeans , t,shirts , several with tattoos , etc. The preacher even has a supercharged mustang. We have a wide variety of people . They don't care who you are or what you've done , they just want to help people get saved and worshiping God .
Back to the subject , I have been watching the show and I really like it .

Christs Church @ Mason is where we attend. Never thought we would like a large church of this size noth coming from smaller churches. Just got a new preacher after our other one retired as well. This guy is awesome. He's 32, has tattooes, spiked hair, ear rings, and a burning desire to preach. He does not display his tatts openly but bares no bones about having them and will share if you ask. He doesn't mince words either. You forget he's only 32 when he's giving the lesson.
I return the thread back now to the topic at hand. Hope they do a good job on the Apostle Paul in the coming weeks. I'm thankful this has been welcomed so well in people's homes.

This sounds a lot like where I am going, and is exactly what made me want to continuing to do so! I had always been turned off by the stuffiness of the churches I had attended, and unfortunately that kept me from going back. I think a church needs to constantly grow with its congregation or eventually it will stop attracting new people.
