In a few years I'm wanting to get a Fox as a project car, the drivetrain combo/specs haven't been finalized, but I would like to snag up a Ford big block and mate it to a C6 with 3.73's in the rear. I do not know what stall speed yet. Keep in mind I also haven't driven an automatic in a car for oh....5 years or so, and even then it was a plain old full size pick up.

So, onto the trans for a 1/4 mile car. I'm want to run a transbrake. Is it possible to run a manual valve body that also has a transbrake, or is a automatic valve body faster in the 1/4? Is there trans that will live behind a big block on a budget? Is it easier to run a reverse pattern manual with a ratchet shifter in the 1/4 mile, or a standard pattern? Any suggestions for a stall speed, and who to go to for the trans goodies?

I have a frank lupo c4 with a reverse manual valve body and a transbrake in my car,Im sure the tranny gurus will chime in tho.

Glide with a tbrake for a big block my opinion

Any reason why? I'm trying to get spun up on autos fast as I can - my whole life I've had 5 speeds (and a couple 4 speeds). Wouldn't a two speed be a bit detrimental compared to a three speed?

In a drag racing app as long as the hp is there it can benefit,

It's going to start off pretty basic n/a with aluminum heads and a relatively mild cam. This will be my first dedicated drag car, and I just don't see it being smart to toss a real high horsepower engine in to start.

I'm likely going to run it with a bone stock 460 to start, and after I get accustomed to stickies/transbrake I'll be digging into the engine combo. It's not going to start off as a high horsepower, but it will eventually get there.

I'd like to try and keep to one transmission as I go through this fun learning process. Ideally I would like to have a transmission that is friendly to refreshing without a large amount of specialty tools on a garage bench.

Ditto, BBF Notch with powerglide and transbrake. Consistent and reliable. I drove a BB with Powerglide and electric shifter and it worked great.

I think you'll be surprised what a stock 460 with aluminum heads and and cam will run in a Fox ... Just my $.02 But there are a few that I'm sure will agree ...

It's going to go in as-is without any heads or a cam. I know I'm going into something new with a lot of potential, and don't want to go straight into a rail.

A gradual learning curve, so to speak.

X2. There are some pretty quick cars around running a close to stock 460.
