I'm one click away from ordering aluminum heads for my 302. I need to know what the best head gasket to use being as the heads are aluminum and the block is cast. I've heard that there could be an issue mating the two materials together if you use the wrong gasket. I know I'm probably over thinking this. But help me please. Thanks!
MLS head gaskets. I have cometic on my motor. They have a lot of bore size and thickness choices.

I think the felpro may be a little cheaper.

Power adder or non power adder? If your just bolting on a set of aluminum heads, you can't go wrong with these.

They use a copper ring instead of steel so you don't damage the heads.

Locwire gaskets are not a good idea. Use the felpro 9333 PT1's they are graphite and work well. Your thoughts are 70's technology. The issues with expansion rates went away with the improvements in alloy of the castings over the past 40 years. It's an old wives tale about the aluminum not sealing. The felpro MLS gaskets work well for power adders, I melted pistons and didn't hurt a gasket with mine. They work well.

X2 ^^^ I've had good luck with 9333 pt-1 gaskets on boosted and nitrous motors. Just use ARP head bolts or studs.
