I just got a stage II, Patriot headed 347 Cobra Mustang & the smog pipes on the back of the heads are leaking? I think I can just cover up the holes with small plates right? Or is that a No-No?

U sure it's the back of the heads? All you need is the right size bolts or plugs, not covers.

Cant you just cut the pipe off the flange and flip the flange and bolt it back up or am I thinking of something else?

It didn't have the tubes or flange the tubes run to. And It sounds like I have a bad exhaust leak but all the exhaust is new. I put a rag over these holes on the back of the heads and the leaky exhaust sound went away, thats why I was wondering If I could just put a small(1/4") piece of flat metal plate over these holes but I wasn't sure if This would cause a bad reaction too the engines performance, etc.

Unbolt them and put pass side on the driver side and vise versa the flat surface area will fit flush against the heads...

I was just afraid blocking these off maybe a bad thing to do/ loss of horse power or cause internal crank pressure etc...These things wont happen if I block these ports correct?

Also where the oil dip stick was they have a bolt in where the dip stick tube was????Does anyone know why the previous owner would have done this( Blower/Turbo) Block maybe...does anyone offer a screw in type oil dip stick for this long tube setup? I want to be able to check the oil other than watching the gauges.

Sounds like a idiot put it together to me why would anyone put a motor together and not install a dipstick, I wouldn't think the block would be threaded the dipstick tube should push in or screw into the oil pan if it has a aftermarket pan like a canton or something

I'm not sure either but he bought the parts and had some local shops do all the labor. Does anyone do this for blower/turbos motors? Sounds like he may have forgot the aftermarket oil pan. whats the best solution unbolt that screw in the block and see if I can find a dipstick tube with the same size threads, Or Goto a after market oil pan? I'll look closer to the oil pan but all I'll seen was the bolt where the dip stick tube goes in the block.

The bolt might just be pushed in there with some rtv on it, but I can't imagine a reputable shop just sticking a bolt in the hole and saying " who needs a dipstick", sounds like a backyard redneck did it. A regular push in dipstick would never come back out if it has the bolt through the header flange regardless of whether it's a turbo car or n/a

It doesn't appear to have any Gasket sealer on it but I suppose its possible.

Nope there is a bolt screwed into the block where it is recessed and drill for a dip stick tube

I'm going to crawl under it again and look better to see if maybe it has an aftermarket oil pan..hopefully where I can ad a tube easily, hopefully
