My Saleen (4.6 2v) has the valve lash adjuster chatter. I have bought all new ones.
I had a guy that was going to help me on the install..but he is busy and the car has been apart for a week now. I have no idea when he will be able to assist me. I am anxious to get it back together.

My question...Are there any Dayton/Huber Heights area guys...
1. with the special tool to compress the valve spring
2. have installed valve lash adjusters (lifters) in a 4.6

I read about using a screwdriver, but I am not gonna start prying on the cam with a screwdriver.

I have the blower off and the valve covers are off of the car. The lash adjusters are soaking in oil. I just need the tool and someone who has done this before. I have heard it only takes about 20 minutes to change them all.

Anyone help me???

Thanks

Well, I bought the tool and did the install. It went good until, I pulled on the tool too far and the rear passenger side keepers fell off!
Those are a PITA. I got it all back together and it runs fine.
The problem is the chatter is still there!! It is not as loud but still there.
It comes on at 2,000 RPM and is heard under little to no load. I have no idea what is causing it.
Any help??

What about slack in the timing chains? Where is the chatter coming from? Make a video and post it up. It could be the guides that the timing chains run on.

If that's the case FRPP sells a complete timing set that is fairly reasonable.

I bought one from Tousley Ford through Modular Fords and paid a lot less than MSRP. I think it was less than $300 but I don't know what list price was last year when I bought it.

I'd check oil pressure to. Just to be sure.

have you located it to a specific spot on the engine?

Bet its the timing chain tensioners.

Bet its the timing chain tensioners.

x2, my car was doing this. Make sure you get the metal ones and ditch the shitty plastic ones if you still have them

Get someone else to listen to it to verify where the noise is coming from. You have a boosted modular engine, so chances are high it's something else.

While it was apart, I looked at the timing chain and tensioners through the top..it all looked ok, but idk.

Sorry, just saw this. Nothing, just bring it buy and I'll give it a listen and see if I can figure out where it's coming from for you.
