Anyone know of a good, reasonably priced place ( or individual) to get a laptop fixed in the Dayton area? I've replaced the power cord and battery after it died and it died again a week later. New power cord and it doesn't even register it's plugged in. I could call the "geek squad" but they're rates are more than we charge to work on cars, lol.

It needs the port replaced. If you can get the laptop apart(quite a few hidden screws) the part is like $5. I just had mine done by a buddy of mine. If you were down here in Cincy I could probably have it done for dirty cheap.

HP i5 CPU 2T 7200 RPM drive, 8G mem, 1G video card, 15.6 screen, Win 7pro 64bit

$599 @ microcenter if you can't get it fixed. Great little laptop. I use it to edit video.

If Chris is right, and all it needs is the charger port, I can solder that up for you.

I did some research and it looks like its a solder connection. I really don't want to go out and buy a solder gun again, plus i'm used to soldering electronics in cars... not computers. I got it working again for now, so when it happens again, I'll PM you.
Thanks for the info!
