ok...a friend of mine has a 91 mustang gt......other day while driving on the interstate the top radiator hose came off, and before she realized what had happened the car got so hot it just quit. the motor turns over like normal, fuel pump is kicking on, and its getting spark to the plugs....but wont start. after a few good cranks the battery cable gets really hot and drains the battery pretty quickly. im not a top notch mechanic or even close, so I came here for help. could it have jumped time????? lost on this one

Could have warped the heads. Do a compresssion or leakdown test.

May have went into limp mode if it has it. Not real sure how that works. Do a compression test.

Nop,no limp mode. I would say it may have cooked the PIP or the Ignition Module, which is extemely temp sensitive. If it got hot enough to completely stop the engine and she didnt notice the shit streaming out from under the hood and the temp gauge burried on red,I would say its done.

The rotating assembly may well be turning but he HOT STARTER CABLE is a clear indication that the starter is laboring fiercely to rotate the engine which raises flag to mains and bearings on the bottom end. That be the case, the heads are possibly toast as well.

Sounds like some rods will be blue/purple when removed!! I did this to one of my old cars and the bearings was trash and the rods started changing colors. It got hot but never shut down. Started rattling and I killed it.
