I remember reading the Specialized raves on here a year or two ago. I havent had money or time to go biking until this summer. A few weeks ago I decided to purchase a bike, and was looking for a Hardrock, but the nearest dealer is in Cincy, and I really didnt want to drive that far to look at bikes and have them serviced later on. So with that being said.... went to a local shop, owner is cool as hell and ended up with a Raleigh Talus 29er two hours later. It seemed comparable to the Hardrock in price and equipment.

So far I love it, it has more suspension travel than the Hardrocks, and ive already been messing with it quite a bit dialing it in for the type of riding I do and my weight. Ive spent, idk, 20 hours or so on it in the past few weeks, and im very satisfied. Just thought id share, if anyone on here rides lmk and we could meet6 up and ride sometime. So far ive just been out on my own, Caesars, Momba or John Bryan.

I'm in the same boat, I still have my Gary Fisher in the garage from college. The tires are so dry rotted the could just fall off. However for some reason I just cant toss it out.

29ers are sweet. I never had a mountain bike before last summer. I bought a Trek Mamba. I road the crap out of it for the first 6 or so weeks I owned it. Had a blast and lost like 15 pounds. I went over the bars one time and fugged up my knee so bad I could hardly walk for 3 days. It hasnt left this hook in the garage since and I put back on 20 pounds:( Now I have a 1000 dollar bike I can hang my shop light on:lol:

that sucks. Ive dumped mine a few times, I dont really jump it so trail riding isnt too bad, but ive clipped a few trees and about destroyed my shoulder. Luckily this one was semi cheap, I may want to upgrade in the future, but I wasnt sure how I was going to like it.

Nice pickup. I myself have been thinking about picking one up. One of the few exercises the wife can do and I always have loved biking. Got all sorts of stuff to trade for one just cash is at a minimum for time being YAY....

Nice bike! By the way it sounds, I probably don't live too far from ya. My buddy and I ride Mamba quite a bit. The more the merrier, so let me know next time you plan on going out there :bigthumb

I remember Gary Fisher making some sweet bikes back in the day. I seem to recall a Greatful Dead tribute bike at Montgomery Cyclery.

There's one of those on Craigslist.

I just picked up a nice Mongoose Mountain Bike for cheap. Don't plan on really taking it off road so it'll be plenty for me. Picked the wife up a really nice Fuji too. Just have to wait on the new tires to come in for it.
